Listen To Daryle Singletary's New Single 'Love You With The Lights On'

My favorite country website recently did a review on Daryle Singletary's new single to radio, "Love You With The Lights On." They've attached a link to stream and listen to the brand new song HERE.

Signed to Giant Records in 1995, he released his self-titled debut album that year. This album produced four hits on the Billboard country charts, including the #2 "I Let Her Lie" and #4 "Too Much Fun". Although his second album (1996's All Because of You) produced another #2 in "Amen Kind of Love", its second and third singles failed to make Top 40. A third album for Giant, 1998's Ain't It the Truth, was released before Singletary exited Giant's roster.
In 2000, Singletary switched to Audium Entertainment, where he released the albums Now and Again (2000) and That's Why I Sing This Way (2002), both of which were largely composed of cover songs. A third album of covers, 2007's Straight from the Heart, was issued on the independent Shanachie label.

Up & Coming New Nashville- Lindsey Lawler (With Exclusive Interview)

Lindsay Lawler is no stranger to the music scene as she has been performing all over the country from a young age. Lawler was born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas. She began singing in the church and at various country venues throughout the South. While attending the University of Oklahoma, she fronted a rock and roll band that recorded and toured the Southwest. After graduation Lawler packed up and moved out West to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of being on stage. Quickly she joined the band Ciattic that she fronted for packed houses all along the Sunset Strip. Lawler never ceased to amaze audiences with her powerful vocals and stellar stage presence at the likes of the famous Whisky-A-Go-Go, Viper Room and The Roxy. In addition, her band recorded a full-length album and toured subsequently. Lindsay Lawler was then discovered in LA by producers Marshall and London Jones (Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Marcos Hernandez). She recorded several songs for them, one of which received airplay across the country and another that was sought after by the WB. It was shortly after that Lawler saw a void of passion in her music and quickly decided to return to her roots. She has since relocated to Nashville, TN and is currently writing, recording, and performing downtown. She currently can be seen on stage at the famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge on Broadway. Lawler’s true charisma is personified in front of a crowd…it is a live performance you won’t want to miss! In addition to her music, Lindsay Lawler is known to many for her radio personality. She has been featured for several years on the nationally syndicated Kidd Kraddick in the Morning show based out of Dallas and broadcast to almost 70 markets. The show continues to support Lindsay and has featured several of her tracks. An exceptionally strong live performer, Lindsay Lawler exudes classic charisma & sensuality on the big stage, captivating audiences of all demographics. Expect to see big things from this performer in the coming years. That Nashville Sound had an opportunity to sit down with the lovely Miss Lawler for an interview about her career in music... You can listen to her HERE.

That Nashville Sound- What brought you to Nashville?

Lindsey Lawler- I came to Nashville in 2007. I was living in Los Angeles at the time and was brought here by a manager and producer to cut a demo. I have since parted ways with that group, but feel blessed it happen as it got me here and back to my country music roots which I am now heavily pursuing.

TNS- Looking over your career thus far, what do you rank as a couple of the highlights?

LL- I currently sing at Tootsie's in downtown Nashville which has led me to meet so many wonderful, interesting people. It has become such a big part of my Nashville experience. I have also gotten the chance to play at the likes of Whisky-A-Go Go and Viper Room in Los Angeles, as well as sing alongside several big name performers. I am currently writing and working with some great writers in Nashville and looking forward to recording a new EP this spring, which we will be showcasing this summer. It's an exciting time!

TNS- What might people be surprised to find out about you?

LL- I would say one of the most surprising things that people tell me is that they are shocked when they hear such a big voice coming out of such a little person. I always love hearing that!

TNS-What kind of music are you listening to? What's in your iPod?

LL- I love Miranda Lambert (and she's a fellow Texan!!). I'm also a huge Sugarland, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban fan as far as country goes, so they're all in the ole ipod. Outside of country, I'm also a big fan of Pink, but also have Billy Joel and the Black Crows in my CD changer today.

TNS- If you had a crystal ball and looked forward ten years, what do you see for yourself?LL- I see myself in 10 years still living in Nashville and still making music. Definitely writing much more as the years go by as well, both for myself and others. I have really started to connect with that aspect of the business as there's nothing better in the world than watching one of your songs come together. I plan being around in country music for a long time to come. It's such a great genre due to it's longevity that other formats don't necessarily give all artists. Come see me at Tootsie's!

Minnie Pearl's Been Stolen

A statue honoring beloved country comedian Minnie Pearl — famous for her homespun humor and "howdeee" salutation — was trucked out of Centerville, TN this past Saturday morning. Her departure is the latest move in a dispute between town fathers and one of the benefactors who paid for the statue.

Officials in Centerville, the village of 4,000 where Pearl was born, want to move the statue a few feet from where it has stood since it was installed almost four years ago, as part of a plan to rebuild downtown streets and sidewalks. Rod Harris, a local resident who helped get the statue in place, opposes the plan.

The dispute rose to a new level Saturday morning when Harris uprooted Minnie and moved her to the lobby of a hotel in equally tiny Linden, 25 miles away. Now he's negotiating her custody with the town, and locals are waiting to see when — or if — she'll be back.

"Everybody's sad to see it gone," says Nancy Rowland, executive director of the Hickman County Chamber of Commerce and makeshift curator of a small Minnie Pearl museum that has drawn visitors from as far as Great Britain and Puerto Rico.

Born Sarah Ophelia Colley, Minnie's rural humor made her the first female member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1940. In 1969, she joined the cast of TV's long-running syndicated show Hee Haw, and she was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1975. She died 13 years ago today at 83.

In 2005, the 900-pound bronze statue of her likeness went up on the east side of the Hickman County Courthouse. Harris spearheaded the project, which was privately funded. An anonymous donor covered much of its $150,000 price tag.

The donation came with a caveat: The statue couldn't be moved from its position in front of the courthouse without Harris' permission. The notion of moving her even a few feet in either direction irritates him. "Minnie Pearl should be center-stage," says Harris, who runs a small music management company.

But the statue's old perch, surrounded by a rock wall to keep drivers from running over it, stands right in the way of a massive downtown construction project 15 years in the making. The pedestal where Minnie had stood would give way to an expanded courthouse lawn. Centerville Mayor Ronnie Martin says Minnie's presence creates traffic problems. Her pedestal is so close to the roadway that picture-takers sometimes back out into traffic to get the statue in focus, he says.

Harris and the city are negotiating redesigns that could land Minnie back among the brick buildings around the public square, but it's unclear how close they are to an agreement. Harris says he's willing to walk away with the statue if he isn't satisfied.

"Right is right and wrong is wrong," Harris says. "Government doesn't have a right to make an agreement and turn around and break that agreement." For now, Minnie's likeness holds court in the lobby of the Commodore Hotel in downtown Linden, smiling like she's happy just to be there.

There isn't a real connection between Linden and Minnie, Harris says. But Michael Dumont, a friend of Harris' who runs the hotel, says her visit is good for little Linden. "We are having tough economic times, and we could use a boost."

Town librarian Mary Beth Pruett believes Cannon would have shied away from the bronze immortalization in the first place. She's in a position to know: The comic was her great-aunt.
"The whole thing is kind of nuts," Pruett says. "I guess she would have thought this was funny in a way. But I don't think she would have wanted to be the source of controversy."

The Day That The Music Died

On this day back in 1963, the country music family lost four key members when a plane holding Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Randy Hughes went down. Here's direct newspaper articles revealing the incident and just how much these artists meant to Nashville:

The remains of four country music personalities, including three nationally known Grand Ole Opry stars, were found this morning in the scattered bits of a private plane which crashed in rugges woodlands near here. The victims were Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and Randy Hughes, believed to be the pilot of the ill-fated aircraft. The wreckage was discovered about 6 a.m. after a night-long search by Highway Patrol, Civil Defense and local officers.

The four victims of the plane crash Tuesday night near Camden represented a multi-million dollars worth of show business talent: Patsy Cline, 29, has been described as one of the finest girl singers in the world. Cowboy Copas, 49, was a long established country and western star, one of the most popular performers in his field. Hawkshaw Hawkins, 43, was known for his versatility. He functioned as a manager of talent (one of his talents was Patsy Cline). He was an able guitarist, and as a sideline, sold stocks and bonds for Jack M. Bass and Sons, Nashville brokerage firm. Governor Frank Clement commented: "With the deaths of Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Randy Hughes the entertainment world suffers a great professional loss and Tennessee suffers a great personal loss. They were typical of the serious-minded, hard working professional people dedicated to country music artistry. I counted them among my close friends and extend my deep and sincere sympathy to their families." All were regular member of WSM's Grand Ole Opry.

One Flew South Releases Second Single "Life" To Radio

While the amazing harmonies on "My Kind Of Beautiful" didn't land One Flew South on the very top of the country charts, they did stay up there for an amazing 3 to 4 months in the top 40. Their second single, "Life" has just been released to radio for adds and it's another GREAT tune. That Nashville Sound named their album "Last Of The Good Guys" one of the top ten albums in 2008 and this single was one of the main reasons why. You can watch them sing their new single here...

Your Chance To Own Johnny Cash History- Original Recordings on eBay

These are the Original 24-track Master Tape Recording's of Johnny Cash Live on the night of July 28, 1990 at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NY USA. Part of these tapes were released by Universal/Mercury Polygram "The Great Lost Performance."

Another piece of American musical history is going on eBay. The consortium that brought you the Original Master Tape Recording by Bob Dylan that was sold on eBay has done it again. Now on eBay is the actual Original 24-Track Analog Recording of the Johnny Cash Concert that took place on July 28, 1990 at the Paramount Theater, Asbury Park, New Jersey - “The Great Lost Performance”.

This great historical collection of music consists of three 2-inch, 24 track tapes on 14-inch reels. A total of four tapes were used in recording this great performance. Tape Number One remains “lost”. Tape One contained part of the opening act - performances by “The Carter Sisters”. Tape Two starts with the ending of the opening act. Tapes Two through Four contain the entire balance of the show, including all of Johnny Cash’s Performance. These are 24 track tapes recorded at 30 ips, allowing for an unbelievable quality of sound. You actually feel that you are present when listing to these tapes. Each tape has approximately 33 minutes of music on it.

These original master tapes contain unreleased material as well as the first rendition of “What Is Man” by Johnny Cash. You will also find “Vaya Con Dios”. This may be the only version ever recorded by Johnny - unreleased and on Tape Four of this collection. Many critics have lauded this performance of Cash as one of his best, if not best ever. Johnny has been quoted (referring to that night at the Paramount) “It was among my happiest of times”. You hear it in his voice. The banter between the performers (which did not make the CD) is all here on these tapes.

The auction for this unique, one-of-kind item is being held on eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace with a presence in 39 markets, including the U.S., and approximately 84 million active users worldwide. Go to eBay and type in the item number 230328660839

Grand Ole Opry Member Ernie Ashworth Passes Away At Age 80

Grand Ole Opry member Ernie Ashworth died Monday (March 2) at age 80. Best known for his recording "Talk Back Trembling Lips," a No. 1 country hit in 1963, he had been an Opry member since 1964 and was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1992. A native of Huntsville, Ala., Ashworth began his musical career as a performer on local radio station WBHP. He signed to Acuff-Rose Publications, the Nashville music publisher, and found success as a songwriter during the '50s with songs recorded by Little Jimmy Dickens, Carl Smith, Johnny Horton and others. He found little success as a recording artist during the '50s and eventually returned to Huntsville. However, after signing with Decca Records in 1960, Ashworth scored Top 10 hits "Each Moment (Spent With You)" and "You Can't Pick a Rose in December." He found his greatest success on Hickory Records, charting four Top 10 singles in addition to "Talk Back Trembling Lips," which spent 36 weeks on the chart. Ashworth appeared in the 1965 film, The Farmer's Other Daughter, which also featured the Kentucky Colonels bluegrass band. In later years, Ashworth continued to tour and perform on the Opry while owning AM radio stations in Ardmore, Tenn., and Gallatin, Tenn. (Excerpt taken from CMT.com)

Tracy Lawrence Readies New Single & New Album

With 17 No. 1's, more than 30 charted singles on the Billboard Hot Country Chart, 10 studio albums, five specialty records and more than eight million albums sold, platinum-selling country star Tracy Lawrence is poised to write the next chapter in his career. Rocky Comfort Records is pleased to present "Up To Him" from the inspirational country music compilation entitled THE ROCK recorded by Tracy Lawrence.

Lawrence is set to deliver his second CD from his own independent label entitled THE ROCK (produced by Lawrence & Julian King) in June. As an appropriate introduction to the premise and spirit behind the project, he is scheduled to release the first single, "Up To Him," to country and Christian radio on March 24, 2009.

Written by David Kent & Tim Johnson, the single brings forth an assuring, unified message that could not come at a more appropriate time. "In the current political climate and in consideration of the overall mood of our country, 'Up To Him' is hopeful, positive and looks toward a brighter future," said Lawrence. With lyrics that are current, relatable and representative of every man and woman's feelings, the song is likely to strike a solid, harmonious chord. "It's the perfect introduction to the new CD; the emotional and musical tapestry will make it a 'connection' song that will appeal to all audiences," he added.

Consistent with Lawrence's all-American musical message, the release of "Up To Him" follows Lawrence's No. 1 friends-helping-friends anthem "Find Out Who Your Friends Are." The corresponding "Up To Him" music video will be filmed in the coming weeks

Happy 41st Anniversary To Johnny & June

In 1968 on this very date, Johnny Cash wed the love of his life, June Carter in Franklin, Kentucky. It was just three short weeks after Johnny Cash proposed to June Carter onstage during a concert in London Ontario. The auditorium is packed with fans. Cash and Carter are in the middle of singing "We got married in a fever..", when Johnny stops singing his part of the duet. June is confused asis the audience. When Johnny turns to June and says "will you mary me?". The audience grows silent awaiting her answer. Tears are sliding down her cheeks. And all of a sudden she starts nodding yes. The whole audience is a-buzz "she said yes!". Johnny sweeps June into his arms and smiles from ear to ear and says into the mic "What do you say folks? Let's finish this concert." The cheers were deafening and the singing duo finished the end of the song "we got married in a fever, hotter then a pepper sprout..." Cash would later call the proposal one of his greatest performances ever.
