Statler Brothers Get Special Exhibition At Country Music Hall Of Fame June 1

Legendary quartet the Statler Brothers, whose tight harmonies and dynamic stage shows delighted decades of fans and influenced generations of country vocal groups that followed, are the subject of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's newest spotlight exhibit, The Statler Brothers: Havin' Quite a Time, which opens June 1. Incorporating photographs, costumes, instruments and song manuscripts from the Statler Brothers and the Museum's collection, the exhibition, located within the Museum's permanent exhibit, will run through May 2011.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the Country Music Hall of Fame members-Phil Balsley, Jimmy Fortune, Don Reid and Harold Reid-will review their career and discuss the new exhibit on Thursday, June 3, at noon. The program, which is included with Museum admission and free to Museum members, will include an audience question-and-answer session. Following the program, the group will sign autographs in the Museum Store.

The Statler Brothers: Havin' Quite a Time will trace the quartet's nearly half-century career, from their early days touring with Johnny Cash to their eventual status as one of country music's top-grossing and critically acclaimed acts. The Statler Brothers' unique mixture of humor, showmanship, musical talent and patriotism kept the tradition of quartet singing alive in country music and paved the way for subsequent groups such as the Oak Ridge Boys.

1.5 Million Dollars Raised In Nashville Flood Relief Concert

It is being reported that country music stars raised more than 1.5 million dollars during a Nashville flood relief concert held yesterday.

The concert, “Music Keep On Playin’ – A Benefit for Flood Relief” was attended by some of the biggest names in the business, including Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, and Sheryl Crow.

Country stars have gone above and beyond the call of duty since the May 8th flooding, and recently it was announced that Taylor Swift donated half a million of her own money to relief efforts.

The concert, held last night took place inside Ryman Auditorium and was hosted by “Desperate Housewives” star James Denton and Kimberly Williams Paisley.

Many of the musicians who performed last night, also made the short trip across the road to the Nashville Convention Center to help out answering phones for the telethon.

Up & Coming New Nashville- Edens Edge

"Every once in a great while an act comes out of nowhere and knocks you flat out. This moment for me happened at the NSAI Awards back in the fall,” says Scott Borchetta, President & CEO of Big Machine Records. “Edens Edge came out on stage practically unannounced to honor Barbara Mandrell and Hall of Fame songwriter Kye Fleming and destroyed the room. In that moment we had no idea who they were... By the end of the first song my VP of A&R was hot after it... Today I am extremely proud and excited that Edens Edge is part of the Big Machine!"

"We are so excited to be a part of the Big Machine Family,” says Dean Berner of Edens Edge. “We knew from the first time we met Scott (Borchetta) and the Big Machine team that this was the home for us.”

Comprised of Hannah Blaylock (lead vocalist), Dean Berner (harmony vocals, guitar, dobro) and Cherrill Green (harmony vocals, mandolin, banjo, and guitar), Edens Edge composes a unique musical blend deeply rooted in Country and Bluegrass.

Growing up about an hour from each other in Arkansas the members of Edens Edge never met until they were introduced through mutual friends in college. After entering the CMT/ NSAI Songwriters Contest in 2006, the band was discovered by Kye Fleming who helped further develop the group¹s writing and artistic talents.

In recent months the trio has opened for such Country stars as Ronnie Milsap and Randy Travis and will be opening for the likes of Lady Antebellum, LoneStar and Gloriana on the road this summer. Edens Edge is managed by Heather Moody, President of TVX Group Nashville. With the creative direction of Kye Fleming Publishing, the trio is currently writing and recording their Big Machine Records debut.
