Craig Morgan Becomes Latest Record Deal Casualty

It is being reported across several media outlets that Craig Morgan and his label BNA Records have amicably parted ways. Morgan started his career on Atlantic Records in 2000, where he released three singles before moving to Broken Bow Records in 2001 after Atlantic was shut down. He scored several hits at Broken Bow, including "Almost Home," "Redneck Yacht Club" and the four week No. 1 "That's What I Love About Sunday" before moving to BNA.

Morgan just returned from Iraq this week, his ninth overseas visit to our US troops stationed abroad. During his visit to Camp Victory in Baghdad on Monday, Morgan and his band played for approximately 1,000 soldiers stationed at the base. Jeremy, husband of Tawny Plate (Creative Artists Agency), who is on his 3rd deployment, shared his photos and thoughts from the visit..."The music sounded great and Craig kept the audience laughing with witty remarks and off-the-cuff humor," shared Jeremy. "After the show he signed autographs and he and his band spoke with everyone who attended. By far this was the best show I've seen while deployed!"

In addition, Sony Music (parent company of BNA) significantly downsized this week with the departure of Exec. VP/A&R Renee Bell, Sr. Dir./Digital Marketing David Gales, Mgr./Marketing & Media Operations and 18 year company vet Britta Coleman, Legal Coordinator Kendra Miles and Sr. Director/Strategic Marketing Paul Williams.

Steve Wariner Releases "Guitar Laboratory"

This week marks the release of Grand Ole Opry star Steve Wariner’s third instrumental album, Guitar Laboratory, on SelecTone Records. The 13-song collection is an electic mix of musical styles, ranging from country and jazz to rock, blues, classical and Hawaiian.
"Rebounding off the Chet (Atkins) project, I was in a guitar frame of mind. I spent hours and days in my studio trying out different riffs and tunes. And I decided I wanted to do a project that showed versatility and diversity. What I wound up trying to do was not only demonstrate the different styles that I can play, but also the different kinds of music that I love.”
Wariner titled the project after a friend paid an unexpected visit to his studio, following a particularly long recording session during which he had lost all track of time. When the friend asked Steve if he was some sort of mad scientist, working all hours in his lab, Guitar Laboratory came to mind.
“Guitar Laboratory represents without a doubt the most versatile project I have recorded,” he continues. “It’s a trip all over the map as far as genres and styles. I think what people will enjoy most is seeing a glimpse of me they have never seen before. I played upright bass, lap steel, resonator guitar, acoustic guitar, steel string guitar, classical guitar, pedal steel guitar and a lot of electrics. I sure hope you enjoy your visit into my Guitar Laboratory.”

New Music Video From Faith Hill & The Pretenders- From CMT's Crossroads

Faith Hill Details New Album In Works

In an interview with CMT, Faith Hill discussed that after six years, she is back in the recording studio working on a new album. They haven't made it into the recording studio yet, but according to Hill, "it's coming."
"I've actually been in the studio a couple of times in the last six years. I'm just trying to find that spark, that thing that's exciting for me ... and that feels inspired and true and honest, from an honest place. It's been a creative journey. I actually have been in the studio, but no one's really heard anything. (laughs) But that's going to be the nice part -- to actually get it finished and get it out there for people to hear.

I'm not anxious yet, because it's not finished yet. (laughs) But when it comes closer to the time, I will definitely be. ... I'm ready to be onstage. To do this show on Saturday night just gives me the bug again. I've never lost that part of it.

I didn't really intend to take this much time off in between albums. Like I say, I have actually recorded possibly a couple of albums in the six years. But it's important for it to be the right thing for me musically. It's just the process. It's like a rediscovery. And in the midst of rediscovery, it just takes time. I didn't even realize it had been that long, to be honest with you, until someone told me that. And I even argued with them. At the time it was five years, and I said, "It's not been five years since I had a record!" "Yeah, it has been." (laughing). But that's OK. I want it to be really good and represent me. I want it to be real."
