Jimmy Wayne Adds Author To His Philanthropic Resume

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Wayne released his self-titled debut album in 2003 on the DreamWorks Records label. Four singles were released from it, including "Stay Gone" and "I Love You This Much", which both reached Top Ten on the Billboard country charts. A second album, Do You Believe Me Now, was released in August 2008 via Big Machine Records subsidiary Valory Music Group, and its title track became his first Number One hit in late 2008. His philanthropic work is well-documented and includes his own non-profit foundation called Meet Me Halfway in addition to a fundraising and awareness walk that saw him walk from Nashville to Arizona last year. Wayne can now add author to his resume.

Wayne has released a brand new novel called Paper Angels that tells the story of a young man suffering through a childhood and a family that takes him under their wing. Jennifer Perry, Executive Director of the Children's Action Network says, "Jimmy Wayne has taken the pathos, poignancy, heart, and storytelling abilities that infuse his music and translated them into a novel that will inspire all those who read it to take the first step toward making a difference.”

Here's the background in the book:
Kevin Morrell is a forty-three-year-old husband and father who runs a successful design and marketing firm that's crashed into the suffering economy. Attempting to navigate the busyness of the mall at Christmas, Kevin is humbled when he stumbles across the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Project. His wife insists that he take a paper ornament.

The name on the ornament is Thomas Brandt, a fifteen-year-old still reeling from the implosion of his family—from years of verbal abuse from an alcoholic father to a mother who finally left him behind, only to find herself and her children penniless and struggling. The only thing has allowed Lynn to survive is her faith. Thomas shares that faith, but he also wonders why God has seemingly abandoned them.

This is the story about a man and a boy one December. A man whose life is changed by a simple expression of kindness, and a boy who takes that expression of kindness and shows the true meaning of Christmas.

Pat Green Announces New Album for February Release

Three-time Grammy nominee Pat Green has announced the release of Songs We Wish We'd Written II, due in stores February 28, 2012. The album marks Green’s first release on his new record label Sugar Hill Records and is the follow-up to his 2001 collaboration with friend Cory Morrow, Songs We Wish We'd Written.

From the press release:
Nearly a decade after releasing the first tribute/collaboration with Morrow, Green has sold over 2 million albums, earned three Grammy nominations, released a string of Top 10 hits and created a well-earned reputation for bombastic live shows. Tapped in People magazine as “the Springsteen of the South West,” he has become a cultural force selling out venues from House of Blues in Los Angeles to Nokia Theater in Time Square, down to the Houston Astrodome in Texas.

Known for his infectious enthusiasm for music and life, Green’s energy is contagious and sends a charge through a live audience.  That energy has been captured once again on record with his new album Songs We Wish We'd Written II.

“We hope our fans enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it,” said Green, who recorded the album with his longtime road band in Texas. “You’ll hear a few songs you already know and may notice others that are unfamiliar; which was by design.  I enjoy spreading the word about great talents and great music.”

The album gives Green opportunity to pay tribute to a wide range of writers from Texas troubadours Joe Ely, Lyle Lovett, Walt Wilkins, Will Alan Sexton and Todd Snider to some of Nashville’s finest including Will Kimbrough and Jon Randall.  It gives Green a chance to interpret some of his favorites written by well known artists such as Tom Petty, Shelby Lynne, Ross Childress and Ed Roland.  It also shines a light on music from hitmakers Glen Ballard and Liz Rose along with up-and-coming talent Aaron Lee Tasjan.

Green’s diverse musical palate was developed at an early age surrounded by a blended family of nine children.  “In a home with that many kids I listened to a little bit of everything from country and eighties music, to the best of Motown and Classical,” said Green.  “I'm just a fan of music, period.  I’m beyond lucky to do what I do for a living and thankful I get to record songs that I love.”

Delivered with his signature “let the good times roll” attitude and guy-next-door charm, Songs We Wish We'd Written II is a collection of ten songs that fans are sure to enjoy.  Green is currently writing new material for his next album and will head into the studio early next year to record

Julie Roberts Releases New Christmas Album Who Needs Mistletoe

Just in time for the Christmas season, country music singer-songwriter and traditionalist Julie Roberts releases her debut holiday collection "Who Needs Mistletoe" Tuesday, Nov. 1 on her independent label Aint Skeerd Records.

Known for the soulful, blues-filled sound of her voice on hits like "Break Down Here" and "Men and Mascara," Roberts takes a simplistic approach to Christmas classics that will add a little spark to your winter nights by the fire. Reminiscent of traditional country artists Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, Roberts' take on these seasonal gems sends the listener back in time, all while maintaining a modern feel that will transcend decades to come.

To coincide with the release of her first holiday collection, Roberts' official website (http://julieroberts.com) will undergo a makeover Nov. 1 as she will offer exclusive autographed packages of the EP for fans to purchase. Packages include autographed photos, Christmas cards and even a phone call from Roberts herself on Christmas Day. The EP will also be available through all digital music distributors such as CDBaby, iTunes and Amazon.

Leading up to the release, Roberts will give fans a Halloween treat Monday, Oct. 31. On her official website and through her social networking profiles on Facebook and Twitter, she will offer fans a free download of the title track and single "Who Needs Mistletoe." The original single, co-written by Roberts and producer Jason Collum, will simultaneously impact radio on the eve of the EP's release.

"This music is so special to me because I absolutely love Christmas," Roberts says. "Each song I have picked for this project is one I remember from my childhood."

"Who Needs Mistletoe" follows on the heels of Robert's previously released independent album "Alive," featuring the singles "NASCAR Party," "Alive" and the upcoming "Whiskey and You."

Tracks on the EP include "Blue Christmas," "Pretty Paper," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "O Holy Night," "Away in a Manger," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and the title-track "Who Needs Mistletoe."
