12th Annual Golf and Guitars Music Festival Raises Money For California-Based Children Charities

For the past dozen years, the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex and KNCI 105.1 FM have proudly hosted the Golf and Guitars Music Festival and Children’s Charity Concert in Sacramento, CA, raising over one million dollars for charity along the way. This year’s Golf and Guitars event was held on May 13 and 14, with more than 20 country artists donating their musical support to the cause.

Cody Johnson, Mitchell Tenpenny, Love & Theft, Adam Hambrick, Jason Michael Carroll, Morgan Evans, Parmalee and Colbie Caillat's Gone West were among the musicians who performed during the two-day event.

The event kicked off with a VIP party on Monday night, including the recognition of 21 college scholarship winners (with more than $30,000 being awarded in educational funds) and a singer/songwriter showcase headlined by Jason Michael Carroll. Tuesday's activities included a silent auction, a charity golf tournament featuring professional golfers and golf-loving country artists alike, and a star-studded main concert. With tickets beginning at just $35, the Golf and Guitars Music Festival was both affordable and altruistic.

Ken Morton Jr, co-owner of the golf management company that runs Haggin Oaks, hosts the annual event in partnership with KNCI, Sacramento's long-running country music station. As always, funds raised by the annual event were split between the Morton Golf Foundation — a non-profit corporation that provides funds to help enrich the lives of the less fortunate through healthy outdoor activities like golf — and the artists' children-focused charities of choice.

Some of those charities of choice from the artists included:

Grant Napaer - $5k – Thistle Farms
Eric Gunderson (Love and Theft) - $5k – Shine for Susie
Drew Kennedy - $5k- Mark McEvoy Legacy Foundation
Chris Roberts - $4k – Valor Collegiate Academy
Neal Morgan (Cripple Creek Band) - $2k – St. Jude
Travis Simas (Cripple Creek Band) -  $2k – Youth for Christ
Matt Thomas (Parmalee) - $2k – St. Jude
