Country Music Hall Of Fame Readies New Exhibit

Sprinkled with rhinestones and embroidered with roses, skulls, and other iconic symbols, the one-of-a-kind designs of couturier Manuel—and the stars who wear them—are the subject of Country Couture, an exhibit of portraits taken by award-winning British photographer Cambridge Jones bowing April 10 in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s West Gallery. The exhibit will run through October 31, 2009.

A native of Mexico, Manuel Cuevas has outfitted presidents, movie stars, rock legends, and scores of country artists during his career of more than fifty years. As protégé to Nudie Cohn, the Rodeo Tailor, Manuel Cuevas designed many of the colorful stage costumes that bear Nudie’s label. In 1989, Manuel Cuevas relocated from Hollywood to Nashville, where he continues to fashion distinctive western clothing inspired by the personalities of his clients.

Artists featured in Country Couture include Kix Brooks, Little Jimmy Dickens, the Hager Twins, Merle Haggard, Jim Lauderdale, Loretta Lynn, Ronnie Milsap, Lorrie Morgan, the Oak Ridge Boys, Pam Tillis, Tanya Tucker, Porter Wagoner and Dwight Yoakam.
