Lila McCann and Shelly Fairchild Form New Duo, Hateful Grey

Longtime Nashville music veterans Lila McCann and Shelly Fairchild have announced that they have formed a brand new band together called Hateful Grey.

Lila McCann is a country music singer and songwriter who made her debut at age sixteen with the single "Down Came a Blackbird". She released three studio albums which were Lila in 1997, Something in the Air in 1999 and Complete in 2001. Her other singles are "I Wanna Fall in Love" and "With You".  Shelly Fairchild is another singer and songwriter whose 2004 Columbia Records record deal resulted in a charted single "You Don't Lie Here Anymore" and the album, Ride. Her publishing catalog includes cuts by the likes of Little Big Town, Maggie Rose, Lee DeWyze and Mindy McCready and she's one of the most sought-after background studio vocalists in Nashville.

Said McCann on their new Instagram page, "Shelly and I are kinda like those hateful grey hairs... we keep dying them, they keep coming back!  We've both seen setbacks in our musical careers over the years... but kinda like those greys, we keep coming back."

The duo hasn't officially released any new music together, but just simply teased the new collaborative effort with the hastag, #staytuned.  Color us intrigued. That Nashville Sound will deliver more information on the duo as it is released and unveiled.

Some eight years after her last single and fifteen after her last album, former teen singing prodigy Lila McCann has announced that she will have a new EP out soon entitled Paint This Town. McCann made her debut at age sixteen with the single "Down Came a Blackbird." Reaching a peak of No. 28 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts, the song was the first release from her 1997 album Lila, which became the highest-selling album for a debut country music act in all of 1997 and was certified platinum in the United States. McCann followed Lila with two more albums: 1999's gold-certified Something in the Air and 2001's Complete.

She signed to the independent Broken Bow Records label in 2005, releasing five singles for the label between her signing and parting ways in 2008. Overall, she has charted twelve singles on the Billboard country charts, with the highest-peaking being 1998's "I Wanna Fall in Love" at No. 3. Her second-highest peaking single, 1999's "With You", which reached No. 9.
