Flatland Cavalry, Evan Felker (Turnpike Troubadours), Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison Among Texans On Upcoming The Next Waltz Volume 2 LP
Artist: Compilation
Album: The Next Waltz Volume 2
Label: The Next Waltz
Release date: November 29, 2019
The second installment of singles is being released from The Next Waltz. Recorded at Bruce Robison's The Bunker in Lockhart with no digital shenanigans, the new LP will be out November 29th. The project will only be available on Bluebonnet swirl colored 180 gram vinyl (limited run of 500) or classic black. Digital download included. The beautiful cover art was created by Kerry Awn of Armadillo World Headquarters / Armadillo Art Squad fame.
The Next Waltz is a multi-faceted project bringing just about all of Robison’s musical interests under one big tent. In a nutshell, it’s a website (www.thenextwaltz.com), internet TV show/video podcast, online radio station, and a record label — albeit one at present and focused exclusively on producing digital-only singles, all of them recorded and mixed analog as all get-out at Robison’s new(ish) dream studio in Lockhart, Texas, Bruce’s Country Bunker.
“I’m starting with three and a half minutes,” he says with a laugh. “That’s what I’m asking people for: ‘Please just give me this three and a half minutes, listen to this.’ That’s how they did things back in the day at Stax or Motown, and man, you’ve really got to be able to turn their head in that time. And so that’s what we’re going for.”
The way it all works is, Robison and his Next Waltz team — including filmmaker Spencer Peeples — invite artists of the country/Texas/Americana persuasion out to the studio to film a short biopic/interview and to record a brand new single, usually with Robison’s own hand-picked Muscle Shoals/Wrecking Crew-inspired regular cast of ace Austin players. The recording of the song is filmed for its own video, and all three pieces — biopic, song video, and downloadable single — are then posted to the site and shared as far and wide as the web can carry them, from YouTube and iTunes to Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Google Play. “We are going to make these songs available in every sort of way you could want to consume them, download or streaming,” says Robison. “We’re saying yes to every bit, everywhere.”

New Music Video From Corb Lund and Hayes Carll- "Bible on the Dash"
With one foot embedded in some genius tongue-in-cheek comedic genius and the other firmly rooted in appreciative classic country, one of last year's best albums is from Alberta's Corb Lund in Cabin Fever. He's got a dedication to the beauty of gothic-dressed girls, crazy survivalists, a tribute to bovines, and deaths from antique pistols. Sound quirky? You bet. It's also genius. Lund’s fantastic songwriting covers it all. Even the production styles range from rockabilly to Western swing, cowboy balladry to country-rock. He even throws in a yodel at some point in there. The highlights of the album include this Hayes Carll co-write and story-song duet "Bible on the Dash." A permanently borrowed Gideon's Bible gets the duo out of more than one scrape with the law.

Corb Lund, Dustin Lynch and Radney Foster All Announce Album Releases
A trio of male country singer/songwriters announced new projects including Dustin Lynch, Corb Lund and Radney Foster.
Broken Bow Records first announced that rising star Dustin Lynch’s self-titled debut album will be released on Tuesday, August 21st in both the U.S. and Canada. The news comes on the heels of an outstanding week of accomplishments for Dustin Lynch’s debut single, “Cowboys and Angels,” the big ballad which Lynch wrote alongside Grammy-winning songwriter Tim Nichols and producer Josh Leo. This week, “Cowboys and Angels,” entered the Top 15 on the Mediabase Country Radio chart as well as landed at #8 on the Billboard Heatseekers Songs Chart.
Corb Lund, well known north of the border in his native Canada, is quickly gaining a bigger following here in the U.S. as well. Fourth-generation Albertan rancher Lund has crafted a series of sharply drawn character studies according to his label with the new Cabin Fever, out August 14 on New West Records. His 2009 US debut Losin' Lately Gambler earned him an Americana Music Award nomination for New & Emerging Artist. From the label:

His 2009 US debut Losin' Lately Gambler earned him an Americana Music Award nomination for New & Emerging Artist. From the label:
Mixing witty observations with imagery from cowboy life and elsewhere, 'Cabin Fever' places Lund in the company of songwriters like Hayes Carll, James McMurtry, and Dave Alvin. He cites his time in the punk/metal band The Smalls as an influence on his writing. Lund says, "Chaos and irreverence informs the way I write. I'm also drawn to harmony and chord choices that are outside the norms of country."
Carll also joins Lund on the hysterical "Bible on the Dash," for which he flew to Alberta to co-write and record in person. In fact, Lund and his band The Hurtin' Albertans did with very little overdubbing on the album. Lund says, "Some of my favorite records are really raw and feel casual and real. We didn't use a click track. There's cohesion with a band that plays live together so much and has been together for ten years."To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of his acclaimed album Del Rio, TX, 1959, singer-songwriter Radney Foster will release Del Rio, Texas, Revisited: Unplugged and Lonesome on his own Devil's River Records on August 14, 2012. A press release reveals the details on this project as well:
Foster crafts story songs with singular grit and grace. Twenty years ago, the contemporary country classic Del Rio, TX, 1959 showcased a songwriter in peak form with hits brassy (“Just Call Me Lonesome”) and bruised (“Nobody Wins”) and buoyant with blues (“Easier Said Than Done”).
Two decades on, Foster’s new Del Rio, TX Revisited: Unplugged and Lonesome reinvents his hallmark solo debut as an ambitious and haunting acoustic collection. “This time everyone was in the same room, with live takes with no fixes and no headphones,” says Steve Fishell, who produced the original Del Rio and played guitars on Revisited. “We have all new tempos and new grooves. Imagine the original version of Eric Clapton’s ‘Layla’ compared to his 1992 live unplugged version and you’ll get the idea.” Gloriously transformed high watermarks include “Don’t Say Goodbye,” “A Fine Line” and “Went For A Ride.” Elegance matches endurance with favorites (“Old Silver”) and bonus additions alike (the stunning new meditation “Me and John R.”).
Foster’s extraordinary session band effortlessly achieved transcendence. In early March, Foster along with Dixie Chick Martie McGuire (fiddle), Jon Randall Stewart (guitar), Glenn Fukunaga (doghouse bass), Michael Ramos (keyboard) and Fishell entered Austin’s Cedar Creek Recording with specific missions: Loosen all restraints. Shoot for the heart. Let feeling guide. Gems quickly emerged. “Things worked out beyond my wildest expectations,” Foster says. “Twenty years ago, I worried about every single detail. With this new record, you have these incredible musicians doing surprising things on the fly. There’s a looseness yet remarkable precision."

Free Hayes Carll Holiday Song Available
Hayes Carll recently performed a brand new Christmas song "I'm Grateful for Christmas This Year" on Imus in the Morning. To help celebrate the spirit of the season, he’s giving this song away to everyone who signs up for Hayes' mailing list by 12:01 AM on 12/17/2008
On December 17, you'll receive an email with a link to download this exclusive song free of charge!
If you haven’t already heard of Hayes Carll, you soon will. In the three years since his self-released second album, Little Rock became available, Carll has toured relentlessly in North America and abroad (performing over two hundred shows a year), founded a successful singer-songwriter music festival on the Gulf Coast of Texas, secured a record deal with Lost Highway Records, and has even seen Little Rock become the first self-released album to reach #1 on the Americana Music Chart. He’s only getting started.
On his new album, Trouble In Mind, the 32 year-old Carll navigates his way through both stormy weather and calm, sun-drenched waters with ease, emerging with songs that melt even the hardest heart in town (a feat he manages on the plaintive, world-weary "Don't Let Me Fall") or heat up a roadhouse (like the ruggedly strutting "Wild as a Turkey"). Their impact is heightened by the fact that they're songs born of both immersion in the works of his songwriting heroes and plenty of real world experience.
