Gretchen Wilson To Release Christmas In My Heart Next Week
Grammy Award-winning superstar Gretchen Wilson will achieve a career milestone this year when her debut Holiday album Christmas In My Heart is released on October 8, 2013. The 10-song cd will include a mix of traditional carols, holiday favorites and a few hopeful future classics. Produced by Gretchen, the new album will be the third album released this year on her Redneck Records label.
"This is something I've wanted to do for a long time," said Gretchen. "We really took our time and came up with a fun mix of classic songs and found some great new songs to record."
The Greg Barnhill-composed title track kicks of the album and is followed by the fun "Santa I've Been Naughty" written by Robert Simbeck and Frank Michels. The slightly irreverent "If You See Rudolph," by Trent Willmon, Jenee Fleenor and Rob Byus, rounds out the original offerings on the cd.
Gretchen targets the youth with fun versions of "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas," "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Nuttin' For Christmas," and her renditions of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "Blue Christmas," "The Christmas Song" and "Silent Night" pull in some of the classics.

Gretchen Wilson Readies Three Different Album Releases for 2013
After a successful Gang of Outlaws Tour with ZZ Top and 3 Doors Down in 2012, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/entertainer/ business executive Gretchen Wilson began lots of songwriting/recording and has emerged with three new albums on the schedule and a new single, "Still Rollin.'"
Her new album, Right On Time, a collection of 12 new songs, will hit stores April 2, 2013.
"I am very excited to have so much new music coming out this year," said Gretchen. "We are already touring, and are looking forward to an incredible year with old friends, and new beginnings!"
Written by Gretchen and longtime collaborator Vicky McGehee, "Still Rollin'" ships to radio this week. The single follows her hit songs "Work Hard' Play Harder" and "I'd Love To Be Your Last," which garnered two Grammy nominations.
Produced by Gretchen Wilson, Right On Time includes 12 songs written by some of Nashville's most imaginative songwriters. Songs range from her well-known traditional country and southern rock feel, to blues, classic jazz, and even a bit of modern popular-sound on a track or two. One of the cuts entitled "One Good Friend" was co-produced, by friend and legendary music man, Blake Chancey.
"It is truly great to be able to finally express myself with all kinds of sounds! I have always been influenced by so many different genres, it just feels good to be able to experiment with that in the studio!"
Under The Covers, featuring 12 of Classic Rock's most memorable hits from the 70s, will be released May 28; and Gretchen's first full-length Christmas album will ship in October.

Gretchen Wilson Plans Two Different EP's in 2013
Gretchen Wilson sat down with Billboard Magazine and unveiled not one, but two different EP projects that are going to be released in the new year. The first will be a six-song of classic rock cover songs pulled from 1970's. The second will be a more country album of original material.
Says Wilson:
"We just finished up mixing on the first of two six-packs I'm going to be releasing. We decided to do something that would be really fun and familiar, and a project of originals. One of the six-packs is of classic rock cover songs, and the other is all originals."
"All the songs are from the 70s, which is my favorite classic rock era. We did 'Stay With Me' from Faces, 'Funk #49' by the James Gang, and also covered Bad Company and Van Morrison.
"I've decided that moving forward, I'm going to try to give songs to my audience that move me. I'm not going to pay as much attention to whether it has a fiddle or a steel guitar in it. If it's a piano based song - even if it's not what I'm used to, but the song is that good, then that's what I am going to do. I've got a huge variety of musical influences - country, a lot of rock and roll, but also some stuff like Billie Holiday. I think you can never learn too much, when it comes to music. If you're closed minded, and only listen to one style of music, your creativity will suffer in the long run."

Legendary Songwriter Matraca Berg To Release New Album on May 17
Matraca Berg- the pen behind hits such as Deanna Carter's "Strawberry Wine"- returns to recorded music with her first disc in 14 years with the rootsy "The Dreaming Fields" on May 17 on Dualtone. Berg's last disc was "Sunday Morning To Saturday Night."
"I knew when I was writing these songs, the ones that I was drawn to... that they deserved to be heard... They where a bit deeper and darker than a lot of what's happening, so I knew it was up to me," Berg said. "I'd done some shows with various girlfriends, and when you look at the women - and the men - in the audience, I realized these stories I'm writing are their stories too... So, making sure they get to them became important to me."
Berg, who scored her first number 1 at 18, has had songs recorded by Dixie Chicks, Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood, Gretchen Wilson, John Berry, Linda Ronstadt and Dusty Springfield. She has 11 #1 hits to her credit and is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
"I was raised on 'Harvest' (Neil Young) and 'Blue,' (Joni Mitchell) 'Pieces of the Sky' (Emmylou Harris)," she says, " That's the sound of my childhood. When I started writing these songs, I pulled them out - and it struck me how bare they were and driven by feel. The songs floated on the arrangements, and the vocals were all the emotions the songs had come from. It's so far from what we hear now, but everything I wanted this record to be."

CD Reviews- Gretchen Wilson- I Got Your Country Right Here
The Background:Gretchen Wilson first exploded onto the country scene in 2004 with her breakthrough hit, “Redneck Woman.” Her debut album, Here For The Party, was certified 5x Platinum, and featured four top 5 singles, including the aforementioned chart-topping “Redneck Woman.” Since then, she has followed up her record-breaking debut with 2005’s All Jacked Up and 2007’s One Of The Boys, which each slated tunes on the country charts consistently for Wilson.
Gretchen first introduced the true definition of the redneck woman, a rough and tough female vocalist with the sass and attitude of a true country artist. Since her emergence onto the scene 6+ years ago, dozens of up-and-coming female country artists have modeled their music and personas off of Wilson, but none have come close to matching her tenacity, perseverance, or success. Now after exiting Sony BMG Nashville in July 2009, Gretchen releases her latest album, I Got Your County Right Here, on her very own label, Redneck Records.
The Review:
Gretchen Wilson’s latest album offers a few surprises, a couple typical tunes, and even unleashes a new side to self-proclaimed “one of the boys.” Kicking off the disc with the title track, Wilson once again demonstrates her tough-girl persona, which is also the case on “The Earrings Song,” a tune about teaching a girl a lesson who’s been flirting with her man. While there has been a song similar to this on every one of Gretchen’s albums, most notably “Homewrecker” from her debut, the track is still effective, and you can’t help but tap your foot and sing along.
Surprisingly enough, the album’s lead single, “Work Hard, Play Harder,” is not the best track, nor will it be the most successful. While the beat is edgy and catchy enough, the lyrical content seems slightly generic. This is ironically not the case for another upbeat track on the disc, “Blue Collar Done Turned Red,” a tune which may never be released as a single, but is one of the top tunes on the album.
The strength of ‘I Got Your Country Right Here’ is that it exonerates exactly what Gretchen Wilson represents, and what she has been about since she first debuted on the country scene in 2004. It is mostly upbeat, with only a few select tracks that slow down the pace, but only temporarily. Because these drawn-down songs, which include “I’m Only Human” and “I’d Love To Be Your Last,” are exceptions to the norm of the record, this adds to their notoriety and effectiveness. That being said, slower ballads are definitely not Wilson’s strengths, but they serve as only a moderate decline in the overall quality of the album.
After a momentary absence during the release of her 2007 album One Of The Boys, Gretchen Wilson has returned to where she began with I’ve Got Your Country Right Here, which is exactly where she belongs. Welcome back, Gretchen.

Gretchen Wilson Loses Record Deal
“Redneck Woman” Gretchen Wilson and her first and only record label, Sony Music Nashville, have parted ways it was announced yesterday. Sony announced the split, describing it as a mutual decision.
Wilson shot to fame with her 2004 smash “Redneck Woman.” Her debut album, Here For the Party, sold 5 million copies.
Her next two albums for Sony — 2005’s All Jacked Up and 2007’s One of the Boys — reached No. 1 but didn’t sell nearly as well as her debut and produced only one Top 10 single between them.
Several singles from what would have been her fourth album did poorly on the charts. "Don't Do Me No Good" peaked at 43 in July 2008. "Don't Make Me Take My Earrings Out" was out in April and failed to chart.
Sony says in a statement that while Wilson will no longer record for the label as a solo artist, both parties look forward to working together on catalog projects.
