That Nashville Sound Saturday Newsbytes: New Opry Member, New Albums & New Videos
A couple new album announcements and some new videos all were made yesterday and we've got the details and links for more information below...
- The Grand Ole Opry made a great choice in inviting bluegrass superstar Rhonda Vincent to becoming the new member of the Opry last night.
- David Adam Byrnes will be releasing Neon Town on May 22. You can hear him talk about the new project HERE.
- Best pals and frequent Texas collaborators Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen are reuniting for another project, a sequel of sorts to their first album. The project will be called Hold My Beer, Vol. 2 and will be released on May 8.
“Unlike our first record, which kind of happened out of nowhere, this album was really planned,” explains Bowen. “We made a conscious effort to write for this specific project and also focused on bringing the best outside songs to the table. It was really important for us to be as mindful and purposeful as possible when it came to choosing the songs that made the cut for this volume.”

“Every single song on the album comes from the heart,” Rogers continues. “Some will make you laugh. Others will make you cry…but when it’s all said and done, we just hope the music speaks for itself and reflects the amount of time and love that went into each of these songs, from the melodies to the lyrics. We couldn’t be prouder of this album.”
The first song released off the project is "Rodeo Clown" and you can hear it HERE.
- New music videos:
Zac Brown Band - "Me and the Boys in the Band"
Marc Broussard - "Eyes on the Prize"
LeAnn Rimes - "Skinny Love"
Sierra Hull - "25 Trips"
Caitlyn Smith - "Supernova"
Jordan Rager - "Cold in California"

Erin Enderlin To Release Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night This Friday
Artist: Erin Enderlin
Album: Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night
Label: Black Crow/Blaster Records
Release date: 8/23/19
Nashville troubadour Erin Enderlin will soon reveal the third chapter of her four-installment 2019 digital EP series with the eagerly-awaited release of Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night on August 23. As did its predecessors, the new EP focuses on character-driven lyrical storytelling on matters of love, loss, struggle and hope.
This time around, Enderlin receives storytelling help from some friends, as she is joined on its three tracks by Dillon Carmichael (“Whatever Gets You Through The Night”), Vince Gill and Alison Krauss (“Sweet Emmylou”) and Ronnie Bowman on a gorgeous and faithful rendering of the Gene Watson’s “Use Me Again.”
Enderlin is already enjoying a successful 2019, with roughly a hundred shows on the touring calendar and her songs included on new releases by personal heroes Reba McEntire, Rhonda Vincent and Rodney Crowell. In June, she took home three Arkansas Country Music Awards including Female Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. Shortly thereafter, the title track from Chapter Two: I Can Be Your Whiskey, was featured in Rolling Stone’s “10 Best Country Songs To Hear Now.”
Enderlin puts that authenticity on full display throughout Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night. While the theme of Chapter Two: I Can Be Your Whiskey is the eternal pursuit of love, the thread that runs across Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night is of the bitter heartbreak that comes from losing it. The Arkansas native croons mournfully about the travails of despair and loneliness on the EP’s title track while “Sweet Emmylou,” is a plea from the song’s broken-hearted main character to Emmylou Harris for help getting them through their heartbreak. Enderlin chooses the perspective of the “other woman” in Watson’s “Use Me Again,” written by Curly Putnam, Dale Dodson and Billy Lawson, to round out this chapter’s reflections on the desolation of love lost.
The fourth and final chapter in Enderlin’s storytelling tour de force is slated for release later this year.

Traditionalist Daryle Singletary Dies at 46
K.F. Raizor, author of the website Raizor's Edge and the book We Can't Sing and We Ain't Funny: The World of Homer and Jethro is our guest writer today on That Nashville Sound. She's ever so gracious to provide wonderful tributes to honor those to whom the music we treasure just wouldn't be the same without. Thank you, K.F.
Daryle Singletary, a "maverick" in that he dared to be true to country music in an era when most were moving toward a pop/rock feel in the 90s, has died.
Singletary died unexpectedly (2/12) at his home in suburban Nashville. He had performed in Louisiana over the weekend.
Born in Georgia in 1971, Daryle Singletary held fast to the traditions of country music at a time when it was difficult to do so. In 2002 he released an album titled That's Why I Sing This Way, paying tribute to (and featuring) many of his music heroes such as Johnny Paycheck, George Jones, and Merle Haggard.
After years of struggling Singletary finally scored a hit in the mid-90s with "I Let Her Lie," which was a throwback to the more traditional country songs that had been swept aside. Singletary didn't change his style once he became successful, continuing with other hits such as "Amen Kind of Love" (his highest-charting single) and "The Note," echoing greats of the past such as Lefty Frizzell and Keith Whitley.
Although he hadn't had a charted record since 2002 Singletary continued to record and perform, remaining a favorite with traditionalists and fans. Last year he recorded a duet album with bluegrass queen Rhonda Vincent, American Grandstand. Vincent told No Depression in an interview about the collaboration, "Daryle is one of the greatest singers, and I love to sing with him whenever I have the opportunity."
Survivors include Singletary's wife, four children, and his parents. Plus, a lot of country music fans.
Daryle Singletary was just 46.

Rhonda Vincent and Daryle Singletary To Collaborate On July Release Of Traditional Country Record
Artist: Rhonda Vincent and Daryle Singletary
Album: American Grandstand
Label: Upper Management
Release date: July 7, 2017
There's not much more American and patriotic than bluegrass and traditional country music so it seems only fitting that the long-awaited collaboration between Rhonda Vincent and Daryle Singletary should be coming out the week of the 4th of July.
In an interview with the West Virginia Herald-Dispatch:
If you should be local to Nashville, the duo will be having an album release party on July 8 at the Nashville Palace as well as performing on Music City Roots together on July 7.

In an interview with the West Virginia Herald-Dispatch:
"I love singing with Daryle," she said. "Our voices have a very special magic when we sing together. We sing a lot alike when we turn a note, and I think more than anything that we challenge each other. We will get a little crazy when we're in the studio. There is no other way for me to describe this project other than it is very special."
Vincent is happy with the upcoming album with Singletary for a lot of reasons, one in particular being that they both recorded their vocals in the studio at the same time. That can be a rarity in this day and age of digital recording.
"Because Daryle has a little kid at home, at first we said, 'OK, you come into the studio and sing your parts,'" Vincent said. "Daryle did that for about 30 minutes and he said, 'This is really not going to work like this. We have got to sing together.' So, after that, we never sang apart. We always sang at the very same time on this album."
"Traditional country music is a whole different genre," Vincent said. "A lot of people will say that there is not a market for traditional country music, but I know that is not true as it has its own niche. I did that traditional country album with Gene Watson not long ago, and I found out that there is a tremendous audience out there for traditional country music. Daryle and I have been doing shows together, and he is so much fun. When everybody hears this new album, they will know how special it is."
If you should be local to Nashville, the duo will be having an album release party on July 8 at the Nashville Palace as well as performing on Music City Roots together on July 7.
