Country Music Hall Of Fame Announces Plans To Double In Size

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is expected to double in size to coincide with the construction of a downtown Omni Hotel, according to a press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Tuesday (Aug. 24). The Omni property will anchor Nashville's new convention center, which is currently under construction. According to the Nashville Business Journal, museum chairman Steve Turner said a fundraising drive will begin when design plans have been finalized. At an estimated cost of $250 million, the Omni hotel's architecture will complement the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, although design plans for the hotel have not yet been unveiled. Groundbreaking for the hotel is expected next year, with completion by 2013. However, a completion date for the museum's expansion, which will grow to the south between Fourth and Fifth Avenues, is undetermined.
