Hear it Here: Jude Cole's Poignant New Song, "Partners In Time"

90's pop star turned producer Jude Cole (Kiefer Sutherland/Clay Davidson) released a powerful new song this week that was seriously worth sharing with our readers. The true-story song deals poetically and eloquently with the effects of dementia.  Per Jude's own words:
In the spring of '92 as I was putting some finishing touches on one of the tracks for 'Start The Car' at Cherokee Studios in Hollywood, the Rodney King riots broke out. Lori was in downtown LA right at the hot spot, shooting with a photographer for the album cover until late that afternoon.
By the evening things got really strange. The different rooms at Cherokee were booked with various artists of all races and color, and everyone was looking at each other with mistrust as we all watched the news in the lounge. Hostility filled the air, and I remember a fight almost broke out between two of the artists who were yelling obscenities at each other, posturing with puffed chests. Finally, someone changed the channel to MTV. The Michael Jackson video 'Black Or White' was playing.
It was a Twilight Zone episode, to say the least… a surreal time to be alive.
Concurrently that evening as I was driving home. the story of this song happened. It had nothing to do with the riots. Nothing to do with the city, the nation or politics. It was an equally touching part of my day, and I've never forgotten it.

Jude Cole To Release First New Music After 17 Years With In Plain Sight

Artist: Jude Cole
Album: In Plain Sight
Label: Watertown/Ironworks
Release date: Early November, 2017

17 years after his last album Falling Home and after nearly 3 decades removed from a string of Billboard-charted hits, Jude Cole announced via Facebook that he will have a brand new EP out in roughly a month titled In Plain Sight.
"The cover is my son Ethan's 2nd CD.  He did Kiefer's 1st record as well.  Quite a talented guy and expressed my desires better than I could have dreamt.  I'll be showing some lyrics and snippets beforehand when the website is up... and because of (producer) Chris (Lord-Alge) mixes, this record is kind of an extension of VFTS (A View From 3rd Street) and STC (Start the Car)... really happy with it... it's been a long time!"
His time off from releasing his own music hasn't been without being heavily involved in music. He created Ironworks Music with partner Kiefer Sutherland, which began as a recording studio and eventually became a record label and music publishing company. Together they signed Canadian singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith, punk rockers Billy Boy on Poison, blues-pop artist Rocco DeLuca & the Burden (Colorful) and folk rockers HoneyHoney, produced country artists Clay Davidson's project Unconditional, and most recently, Kiefer Sutherland’s Down In A Hole album (Ironworks/Warner Music Nashville). This is all in addition to being the manager, co-writer and producer for the smash success rock band, Lifehouse.

Among his Billboard chart hits are his own 1990 single, “Baby, It’s Tonight” (#4 Pop Singles),"Time For Letting Go" (Top 20 Pop Singles) as well as a number of Lifehouse songs that garnered multi-format airplay: “You and Me” (#1 Adult Top 40 and AC, #5 Billboard Hot 100, #4 Top 40), “First Time” (#3 Adult Top 40, #26 Hot 100), “Whatever It Takes” (#3 Adult Top 40, #10 Adult Contemporary, #17 Mainstream Top 40, #28 Christian Songs and #33 Hot 100), ”Halfway Gone” (#2 Adult Top 40, #12 Adult Contemporary, #15 Adult Alternative Songs, #16 Dance Club Songs, #25 Mainstream Top 40, #50 Hot 100), “All In” (#6 Adult Top 40, #25 Adult Contemporary, #26 Christian Songs, #29 Adult Alternative Songs) and “Between the Raindrops” (#21 Adult Pop Songs, #27 Adult Alternative Songs, #79 Hot 100).

Clay Davidson Returns To Music With New Duo, Damn Davidsons

Most of you either know Clay Davidson or recognize his music. He has had several singles in the top end of the country charts including 'Unconditional', 'I Can't Lie to Me' and 'Sometimes'.  'Unconditional' went all the way up to number three. He has shared the stage with countless artists and has played at the Grand Ole Opry stage numerous times.

What most don't know is the near-tragic accident that derailed his career after his successful first album for Virgin Nashville in April of 2000.
"Our dream and the town’s hopes for us ended after only 2 short years. While leaving Nashville going to Effingham, Illinois during the summer of 2001, our tour bus driver fell asleep. We were sleeping in our bunks along with 'Clay’s' (then) wife and his (then) 12 year old step-son, and 6 others. We woke to the sound of the rumble strip as the bus ran off the interstate, into the median, hit a drainage culvert head on, the bus was airborne for a 45 foot distance before doing a nosedive. The bus was then still, stuck in the ground on its nose. No one was killed but several were injured requiring medical attention, multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. Nearly an entire year of shows were missed due to the accident. Time off in the music business is not normally a good thing. After healing, a few shows were done but things were never as they were and we soon found ourselves back home with feelings of failure to follow."
Now a decade and a half later after playing in some smaller bands in and around his home area of Virginia and West Virginia, he's combined forces with his brother Arnold (who played drums for Clay during his major label days) on a new duo called Damn Davidsons and they're planning on a new album in August.
"We have played music our entire lives, be it local or across the United States touring for our (then) record label. We still have such a huge fan base and couldn't be more honored. People are constantly e-mailing and calling expressing their desire to see a show, hear more music and just have ‘Davidson’ available again. We are ready to listen to our fans and give them what they want. Not all fans can make it to local shows but still desire our music. So after 13 years home and persistent pushing from fans demanding answers, we have the answer.  We are teaming up and putting out new music on a brand new album!  We hope things go well so that we may tour a bit and see some of you and maybe you'll even hear us on the radio. We have lots of money to get together before we can even hit the studio but we are working on it!"

"We are fine tuning some things and hoping to hit the studio in August 2016.  This project means so much to us.  Music is in our blood, heart and soul and we carry our daddy, who we lost in October, with every note we play and and every word we sing.  He taught us and encouraged us so many times, so many years.  This is a project we want to do in honor of him."
