Get Your Tickets Now for the 17th Annual Golf & Guitars Music Festival: More Days. More Music. More Intimate.

The 17th Annual Golf & Guitars Music Festival is returning to Sacramento this fall — and while the heart of the event remains the same, this year’s festival will look a little different… in the best way possible.

This year, we’re dialing it in. Shrinking it down. Making it more personal.

We’re creating a truly intimate experience that brings the music closer and makes the connection between audience and artist stronger than ever before. With the elimination of General Admission tickets, every attendee is now a VIP — and that means better views, better vibes, and a deeper dive into the stories behind the songs.

At its core, Golf & Guitars is more than just a concert series. It’s a powerful fundraiser supporting some of Sacramento’s most impactful youth charities — including The California Eagles, the nation’s first and largest Special Olympics golf program, and Angels for Hearts, a program dedicated to bringing joy and resources to pediatric heart patients and their families. This year, we'll likely cross the 2-million-dollar mark in funds raised for charity since we started.

And this year? We’ve added an entire third night of music to the VIP experience — giving you three unforgettable evenings of country music’s brightest stars, all while doing good in our community.

Josh Turner To Release Country State of Mind On August 21

Artist: Josh Turner
Album: Country State of Mind
Label: MCA Nashville
Release date: August 21, 2020

Josh Turner describes the influences on his upcoming album, Country State of Mind, as the "Mount Rushmore of Country Music," and for good reason: The new project features cuts of some of his favorite all-time country tracks as well as guest spots from a few of his heroes singing beside him- including a landmark performance from Randy Travis. Country State of Mind includes Josh's take on Randy's 1987 classic, "Forever and Ever, Amen," and the legendary artist joined him on the new version of the song. It marks the first recording session for Randy since a devastating stroke severely hampered his ability to speak and sing in 2013.

"Randy has always been my hero. He was the reason I wanted to become a country singer," Josh explains. "He's an inspiring figure, not just to me but to a lot of people, so to have him sing on this record is pretty special."

But Randy isn't the only high-profile country act who helped Josh make his new album. Kris Kristofferson and John Anderson also lent their voices to the album, as did Chris Janson, Runaway June, Maddie & Tae and Allison Moorer.

In addition to collaborating with a diverse and impressive roster of collaborators, Josh shows off his country music history expertise with his solo performances on Country State of Mind. The track list features his renditions of Johnny Cash's 1959 gospel tune, "The Caretaker," as well as Hank Williams' 1955 original, "Alone and Forsaken." On Wednesday, Josh shared the album's title track, in which he and Chris duet on a Hank Williams Jr. classic.

Country State of Mind will drop in full on August 21.

That Nashville Sound Sunday Newsbytes: New Albums, New Videos & New Band Members

Here's hoping that things are slowly (and carefully) starting to return to some semblance of normal in your neck of the woods.  Despite all tours being shut down and many artist's album releases being delayed (Willie Nelson and The Dixie Chicks among others), news continues to come in from the country music world.

~ That Nashville Sound updated its album release calendar. Let us know if you have additional releases to add to the list.

~ Hannah Mulholland has left the trio Runaway June and fiddle player-extraordinaire Natalie Stovall has taken her place. Says Stovall on the move, "This has been one of the easiest and most obvious choices I’ve made thus far in my music journey. I LOVE making music in band setting and I’m so excited to get to create and perform and spread joy with @runawayjuneofficial !!! As soon as we can, we will be out there on the road coming your way. And in the meantime, we will be creating music for you to hear!"

~ New music videos from the last 24 hours:
Mo Pitney - "Mattress on the Floor"
      Levi Hummon - "Wedding Dress"

~ Mo Pitney is releasing a new album on August 14th via Curb Records called Ain't Looking Back. “I wanted to be completely open-minded while recording this album,” Pitney says. “It was important for me to meld all my influences of the past that represent who I am as an artist today, hopefully to make one complete thought and to make something new. The end goal was to shut out all other voices, close our eyes, and create something that came from the heart. I’m looking forward to taking this body of work that is completely me and sharing it with the world. I’m excited to see people’s reactions.”

~ After the strong #1 debut release "I Hope" from Gabby Barrett, it's encouraging to hear that she's got her debut album called Goldmine coming out on June 19. "I am so excited that my first album is finally complete,” shares Barrett. “I’ve been writing for this project for almost two years, pulling together who I am as an artist and working hard with my team to make this album an expression of that. To see it come together like this feels amazing and is such a huge blessing. I’m so excited for June 19 – can’t wait for you to hear it!”

~ Another promising album will be coming out on July 24 from one of country music's most respected songwriters. Home and the people who make it have captivated Lori McKenna for years. Over the last three decades, as she became a wife and mother of five, she has also emerged as one of the most respected, prolific singer-songwriters in popular music. Her 2016 release The Bird and the Rifle netted three Grammy nominations, along with Americana Music Association nods––all firsts for McKenna as an artist. Then, she made history: In 2016, she became the first woman ever to win the Country Music Association’s Song of the Year two years in a row thanks to co-writing Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” and penning Tim McGraw’s no. 1 “Humble and Kind” solo. Both songs also clinched back-to-back Grammy wins for Best Country Song. In 2017, she became the Academy of Country Music’s first female Songwriter of the Year. The Tree, her eleventh studio album, was nominated for the 2019 Americana Awards Album of the Year. 2020 brings a new record for McKenna, The Balladeer, produced by Dave Cobb.

Runaway June Prep The Upcoming 6/28 Release of Blue Roses

Artist: Runaway June
Album: Blue Roses
Label: Wheelhouse
Release date: 6/28/19

In the middle of their Spring tour with Carrie Underwood, the trio of Runaway June (Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland, and Jennifer Wayne) will be releasing their second project on June 28 titled Blue Roses. The project follows their debut EP released last year.

They have a sound that was the backbone of a little group known as The Dixie Chicks, and now it’s making a comeback through a vocal trio with similar tight harmonies.

Mixing a little bluegrass tradition with dusty desert cool, Runaway June is comprised of three very different women who fuse their own influences to create a style their own, however.

With their debut single, “Lipstick,” Runaway June became the first all-female trio in over a decade to score a Top 25 hit. With the help of the trio’s follow-up Top 40 single “Wild West” the breakout trio earned a 2018 ACM nomination for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year.

Their most current single “Buy My Own Drinks,” co-written by Runaway June and Hillary Lindsey and Josh Kear, neither laments, caters to, bashes or attacks the loss of a relationship but rather celebrates the freedom, spirit and independence of a female having a night out on her own.

Blue Roses track listing:

1 Head Over Heels
2 Buy My Own Drinks
3 We Were Rich
4 I Know The Way
5 Trouble With This Town
6 Got Me Where I Want You
7 Fast As You
8 I Am Too
9 Good, Bad & Ugly
10 Blue Roses
