New Duo Lockhart Plans March 1 Release Of Reckless

Artist: Lockhart
Album: Reckless
Release date: Mar. 1, 2016

Lockhart is comprised of American Idol finalist Janell Wheeler and country songwriter Johnny Bulford, who has penned hit songs including Chris Young's "Lonely Eyes" and Lee Brice's "A Woman Like You." The two formed their duo when both of their paths lead them to Nashville, though they began as friends in Orlando, Florida.

Janell started singing and songwriting in church at an early age. She toured her home state of Florida playing shows and competing in singing competitions. At one of those competitions she met Johnny Bulford (Winner of the Colgate Country Showdown) and a friendship, and music relationship was made.

When Johnny and Janell connected in Nashville they fell in love through music and went on to form Lockhart.

  • Crystal Shawanda has officially released her first single from her new Nine North Records Label called “Love Enough” to country radio. Click HERE to give it a listen.
  • Bucky Covington finalized his record deal with Entertainment One Music Group and will have a new single out this fall.
  • Sugar Hill Records is giving away a free single called “West Side Street” from the Canadian country-folk band Deep Dark Woods. Click HERE to get your single.
  • American Idol winner Scotty McCreery has his brand new album coming out today and he also will be singing the National Anthem at the upcoming World Series.
  • Randy Travis premiered his brand new music video for “Everything and All” on GACTV. Check it out HERE.
  • Monday Night Football theme song singer Hank Williams, Jr. has gotten himself into a heap of un-PC trouble with comparing President Obama to Hitler. As a result, the television studio ESPN elected to pull his “Are You Ready For Some Football” music showcase that usually starts the broadcast.
  • Texas music legend Gene Watson almost rolled his bus. These pictures show his precarious position.
  • Another longtime Texas singer/songwriter Roger Creager has had five albums released in the Lone Star State and now has a... uh…hilariously funny harrowing (?) tale about a shark encounter to draw inspiration from on his next album.
  • Foster and Lloyd did a live recording for Music Fog called “Hiding Out” that’s worth a watch.

Video Replay- American Idol Alum Crystal Bowersox Makes Her Grand Ole Opry Debut

Crystal Bowersox attended the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Friday night and wound up making her debut appearance on the Nashville radio show.

Bowersox initially went just as a fan, but Pete Fisher, the show's general manager, asked if he could announce her presence to the audience. When he did, the response was so enthusiastic that Opry member Vince Gill decided to bring her on to perform.

"We do things out here for an awful lot of different reasons, but one is spontaneity, one is fun," Gill said as he introduced Crystal. "I went to the management and said, 'Why don't we do the Southern gentlemanly thing and invite her to sing a song on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry?'"

You can watch the performance below:

A new song has been released from American Idol alum’s Katharine McPhee’s upcoming album Unbroken, due to be released by Verve in January 2010 and it has a hint of country in it. A hint.

She gained fame as a contestant on the fifth season of the Fox reality show American Idol, eventually finishing as the runner-up.

I’d be interested to hear what everyone thinks about the song below as well as the new blonde hairdo.

American Idol's Danny Gokey Confirms Country Record Deal

In a video interview with Entertainment Weekly this week, 2009 American Idol third place finisher Danny Gokey has revealed that he has a Nashville record deal in place, (a formal announcement will be made in early to mid September), and that it will be a country album.

Gokey says, "I'm not interested in making the million dollars. I'll climb the ladder slowly and build myself up, learn the industry, learn what's good and not good."

"Country is more about the message than it is about the twang," he said. "In the past I've always picked songs that have a strong message, and that's what country carries [to me]."

2008 American Idol Finalist Brooke White To Release Album On June 2nd

As the 2009 season of American Idol kicks into high gear, new information on on of 2008's stars has been released. Country-folksy-musician Brooke White has announced that she'll be shooting for a June 2nd release of her "High Hopes And Heart Break" album that is being published by Sanctuary Artist Group. From her blog:

Yes friends, I am making a record... (Insert "Woo twirl" here)! I am always hesitant to say this, but what the heck... I'm EXCITED! As y'all know I have been writing, writing and writing some more. I am in the thick of the creative process, and really learning a lot along the way. I am certainly one of those tortured artists that is never really satisfied, or good with being complacent, but I crave progression and improvement. I have had the opportunity to do a lot of co-writing. I have really grown to love the co-writing process... in some ways harder than writing alone, in some ways easier. But I love coming into a writing session with a great idea... a verse or a chorus, and then see it really blossom into something better than I could have dreamed up on my own. There are some really talented writers out there, and though I often times feel intimidated, I have taken on the challenge and feel like it's forced me to step it up and rise to the occasion, and really learn something new. I have loved the outcome thus far, beautiful songs that feel real and honest... whether they tell my own story or the story of another., they are real life. You know, In the end It's all about the song!Which prompts the next exciting announcement that I have decided to share with you all! I had planned on waiting to reveal it, but I can't wait! I have recieved some clear inspiration on the album title... an idea that I have been sitting with for quite some time. It just seems like it perfectly summarizes the overall landscape of the record, and really the dynamics and oppositions of real life, And Actually has found it's way into one of the lines of the songs... "my life is the sum of high hopes and heart breaks" ... so therefore the album shall be called "High Hopes And Heart Break"...

...So there you have it, a little insight into the heart and mind of this record, it's all in the works! Which brings me to one last announcement...Everyone has been inquiring as to when to expect this album, and while I have been giving a ballpark estimation of late spring -early summer, I have set a real date. So here it is, You can expect to find "High Hopes and Heart break" on June 2, 2009, which also happens to be a "New Music Tuesday" as well as my actual birthday! I know that might seem far away... but ya know what, quality takes a little bit of time, and truth is time is flying by at warp speed and June will be here before we know it!
