Bryan White Launches New Album Project On Kickstarter

Bryan White, best known for his late 90's smashes "Someone Else's Star" and "Rebecca Lynn," has launched a brand new album project and he's looking to his country music fans to help with the process. As many indie recording artists have done, White has created a Kickstarter account where fans can help prefund the album. In White's case, a simple ten dollar donation will get you one of the finished albums. $25 will get you one of them autographed. If you're so inclined, a $10,000 donation will get you a private concert in your choice of location. In fact, country music stars including Rascal Flatts, Neal McCoy, LeAnn Rimes have put together a video of support for Bryan's new project.

I want to make amazing new sounds in an organic way. I plan to make my 9th studio album without the help of a record label... 

I have been blessed over the past 18 years to be smack dab in the middle of what I love doing, making music. Because of my family, friends, and especially the fans, I've seen my wildest dreams become a reality. I've experienced so much and am grateful. I've recorded many albums under the umbrella of labels. While very grateful, I am also excited to be into a new chapter of my life. Somewhere free from someone looking over my shoulder during my creative and most vulnerable process. I am proud to announce to my fans about my 1st Kickstarter project! I'm thrilled to be finally making a record that they too can be involved in! Really involved in! I am asked every day.... Literally every day, "Where have you been? Where did you go? When are you gonna make new music?" Well, here's the answer... My goal with this record, is to find the "Inner-kid" again. To approach this new music letting God lead and getting completely out of the way of the music that wants to happen. While that will be a major challenge for me, as I have been through much hardship, in the area of being hyper-crytical of myself, regarding singing, and my music, I believe it's possible! I gladly accept the challenge!! The funds raised will help us to pay musicians, engineers, the studios, and everything else that goes into it. Anything exceeding our budget will be used for promotion and whatever else it takes to get this record off the ground and out to the four corners of the world! I am humbled at your support and am stirred to think of what this process might be like and just what may come out of it!

An Interview With Darryl Worley on 9513

I had an opportunity to interview Darryl Worley this past week on my other site I work on at 9513. I'd love for all my TNS readers to click through HERE to read it and let me know what you think with comments.

Darryl Worley signed with DreamWorks Nashville back in 1999. His debut album, Hard Rain Don’t Last (2000) was the first of four albums for the label. I Miss My Friend (2002), Have You Forgotten? (2003), and Darryl Worley (2004) would all follow, spawning three number one singles and 12 charted hits. After the label closed in 2005, he moved to 903 Music (an independent label owned by Neal McCoy), releasing Here and Now in 2006, shortly before that label’s closure. His most recent studio release is 2009’s Sounds Like Life via Stroudavarious Records and its first charted single, “Sounds Like Life” is racing up the charts now.

"We’re down there (at the Tennessee River Run event) giving everything we got to the cause. Obviously, we award grants to people in need in that whole region down there. We’re giving money to several national charities every single year including Cystic Fibrosis and St. Jude–a whole lot of charities. But we have a new focus the past few years, we’ve started a campaign to build a four million dollar cancer treatment center in my home town. I think financially, we’re ready to break ground, but we’ve got a few political hurdles to clear right now. Hopefully we’ll have that straightened out and cleared up so we can get started later this year or this fall."

Country music joins comedy legend Jerry Lewis for his 44th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon this next Labor Day weekend, Sept. 6-7.

“I’m determined to keep fighting for a cure for muscular dystrophy because my kids deserve to live long and healthy lives,” said Lewis, MDA’s national chairman and Telethon star.

The annual extravaganza raises millions of dollars for MDA’s research, services and education programs. In 2008, the show brought in a record-breaking $65 million in pledges and donations.

“The Telethon gives us the chance to help put an end to these debilitating diseases, while entertaining and educating the American public,” Lewis said.

The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon will present great entertainment again this year, including Dolly Parton, Wynonna, Reba McEntire, Tony Orlando, Charo, Train, Bo Bice, Terry Fator, The Grascals, Neal McCoy, comedian George Wallace. Lee Greenwood, Joshua Bell accompanied by Frankie Moreno, Three Dog Night and many more.

A Labor Day icon that set the standard for telethons, the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon typically draws as many viewers as the Emmy’s, Oscars or Golden Globe Awards. Almost 40 million TV viewers across America will tune in, while countless more around the world will watch on the Internet, thanks to streaming video provided by RealNetworks.

Neal McCoy, Linda Davis & Michael Martin Murphey Join Texas Music Hall Of Fame

Neal McCoy will join fellow Texan natives Linda Davis and western music singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey as 2009 inductees into the hall of fame venue in Carthage on Aug. 15, according to Carolyn Moore, venue spokeswoman.

McCoy has 10 studio albums to his credit, including 1994's No Doubt About It and 1995's You Gotta Love That, which both reached platinum status. His 1997 greatest hits album was also platinum.

Davis, born in the Dotson community in 1962, recorded five major-label studio albums in her solo career. A 1993 duet with Reba McEntire, "Does He Love You," won both singers a Grammy Award for best country vocal collaboration.

Murphey, born in 1945 in Oak Cliff, is already a Western Music Association Hall of Fame member. He has more than two dozen studio albums to his credit, with two of his singles reaching the top of Billboard country music charts.
