Former Jypsi Member Lillie Mae To Relase New Other Girls Album In August

Artist: Lillie Mae
Album: Other Girls
Label: Third Man Records
Release date: August 16, 2019

Lillie Mae announces her new album Other Girls will be released August 16th on Third Man Records, sharing new song and video "You've Got Other Girls for That" via an interview with Rolling Stone. The album features eleven new, original songs written by Lillie Mae, produced by Grammy-winner Dave Cobb at Nashville's famed RCA Studio A.

From the new track's opening line, "I ain't your baby," the Nashville singer, songwriter, downtown scene slayer, and most-wanted fiddler signals a reclaimed confidence and bold evolution, telling women's stories - including her own - that build on the strength of her "nervy" (NPR Music), 2017 Jack White-produced debut.

Lillie Mae led a sequestered childhood touring in a motorhome with her musician parents, constricted by religious boundaries. In her adolescence she busked from RV parks to the Rio Grande, swIn 2008, she recorded with her three siblings in the group Jypsi, which had a Top 40 hit on Hot Country Songs with "I Don't Love You Like That."

She embraces personal triumphs on "I Came For The Band (For Show)," breathes new perspective into "Terlingua Girl," a song she wrote as a 19-year-old in the South-Texan desert, and professes brave truths as heard in "You've Got Other Girls for That." After a vagabond past, crossing paths with hundreds of musicians, she limits the cast of Other Girls to just her brother, sister, and a few trusted collaborators.

Lillie Mae will debut songs from Other Girls live this summer, as she supports The Raconteurs from the midwest to the west coast. She will also join Robert Plant on tour, both opening for him and playing in his band.

Former Jypsi member Lillie Mae Rische Follows Labelmate Margo Price With Upcoming Album Forever and Then Some

Artist: Lillie Mae Rische
Album: Forever and Then Some
Label: Third Man Records
Release date: April 14, 2017

Lillie Mae Rische (formerly of Jypsi) releases the Jack White-produced LP following in the footsteps of labelmate Margo Price.

Former White Stripes leader Jack White has taken a break from performing as an artist and has been busy setting up his own label in Nashville titled Third Man Records. While Third Man was originally founded in 2001, it wasn't until 2009 he had purchased office space in Nashville and with his most recent-signing of Lillie Mae Rische and following critical-darling releases by Margo Price and Olivia Jean, it's clear this new effort has a renewed energy behind it.
"I'm proud to have become a part of the Third Man family, where there is no shortage of hard work and dedication to creating and making available the music we love so," Rische said in a release. "I'm forever thankful to Jack for believing in me and giving me a chance and all the freedom I've needed to make this album."
Rische has spent considerable time as a member of White’s touring and recording combo, playing fiddle and mandolin while also lending vocals. She was originally discovered by the legendary Cowboy Jack Clement while playing with her family band The Risches, which was formerly called Jypsi.
“Lillie Mae has been performing on stage since she was 3 years old,” White said. “She is an incredible writer who can play an array of instruments and has paid her dues from the honky-tonks on Broadway to stages around the world. She is a beloved artist in Nashville, and I think it is safe to say that she is one in a billion. You wont find anyone else quite like this woman no matter how long you live.”
Jypsi was formed in 1994 in Galena, Illinois by sisters Amber-Dawn, Lillie Mae, and Scarlett Rische, along with their brother, Frank.  In 2007, they were signed to Arista Nashville. In late 2007, the group began work on its debut album, eventually releasing three singles for the label. They've been longtime mainstay performers down at Layla's Bluegrass Station down on Broadway in Nashville.

Mae's siblings appear on Forever and Then Some, with guitarist Frank Carter Rische, Scarlett Rische on mandolin and harmony vocals from McKenna Grace Rische. Once known as country quartet Jypsi, the brother and sisters charted with the song "I Don't Love You Like That" in 2008. Also featured on the LP is the Dead Weather and Queens of the Stone age keyboardist Dean Fertita, banjo player Ian Craft, singer-songwriter Carey Kotsonis and Old Crow Medicine Show pianist Cory Younts.

Forever and Then Some track listing:

1. "Over the Hill and Through the Woods"
2. "Honky Tonks and Taverns"
3. "Wash Me Clean"
4. "Loaner"
5. "Honest and True"
6. "These Daze"
7. "Forever and Then Some"
8. "Nearing Home"
9. "To Go Wrong"

Former Big Label Stars Amber-Dawn Rische, Shannon Lawson and Jon Nicholson Make New Indie Music

Former Jypsi band member Amber-Dawn Rische with husband Bobby
Not being on a major label any longer hasn't let two distinctly different acts keep them from acting on their music bug. Former Jypsi member Amber-Dawn Rische (now Amber-Dawn Rische Nicholas) and her Canadian husband Bobby have started a new duo called Bad Nicholas and released an album entitled We Will Fly. Separately, former MCA artist Shannon Lawson and former Warner Brothers artist Jon Nicholson have come together and formed a duo called El Camino. Their first EP has been released this month and is appropriately called Vol. 1.

--------------------------------

Bad Nicholas has utilized a roots based feel/sound, unique to their individual musical upbringings. The pair met at a jam session in 1999 and quickly developed a personal and musical friendship, although at the time, both were pursuing their own music careers. Several years later, they began dating and eventually got married on a winter vacation in Mexico and recently formed the duo.

Amber-Dawn Rische Nicholas has been performing worldwide for many years as a violinist and singer with the now disbanded Arista/Sony Nashville signed group, Jypsi. With the band, she had the opportunity to play many prestigious venues such as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, South By Southwest (SXSW), Stagecoach, and many more including several appearances at The Ryman and The Grand Ole Opry. She has toured/performed with major artists including, Darius Rucker, Ronnie Milsap, Hootie & the Blowfish, etc. She has also gained invaluable experience working in the studio with many of the world’s top record producers such as Don Was, Nathan Chapman, Tony Smith, and the list goes on.

Bobby Nicholas has a vast range of musical experiences that began at a young age in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From solo television performances, such as Much Music and the Tommy Hunter Show, to traveling the country in various groups and duos, he honed his skills as an artist and sideman. After moving to Nashville in 1997, he began working as a utility musician and back up singer for several major artists including Patty Loveless and Terri Clark, which gave him the opportunity to play venues such as Austin City Limits, The Ryman, The Grand Ole Opry, and travel the world. Around town, he has had the honor of playing on stage with legends ranging from John Prine to John Paul Jones, from The Osborne Brothers to the Little River Band.

Former MCA artist Shannon Lawson & WB artist Jon Nicholson make up El Camino
Shannon Lawson and Jon Nicholson originally formed El Camino with fellow Muzik Mafia partner, James Otto.  And while still very close friends, Otto did not participate in this project this time around.  Shannon is most remembered for his smash country hit "Goodbye on a Bad Day" from his album Chase the Sun that was released by MCA Records in 2002, and his remarkable song writing skills- lending his insight to even such current stars as Jamey Johnson with his song "Can't Cash My Checks".

Nicholson was one of the four original founding members of Muzik Mafia, although he had a long history prior with an indie rock band in Texas called "Stroller". His work with that band gained him a large collection of fans, and his creativity spilled over from that band to his solo work, his Mafia project and onward. He released his own album called A Lil Sump'm Sump'm after being signed to Warner Bros. The CD was released in 2005.

The vocals are the centerpiece of this band. Nicholson and Lawson trade lead vocals and break into harmonies reminding one of C.S.N.Y., and the Eagles Desperado record. You can stream the record HERE.
