Hear It Here - New Single From Suzy Bogguss - "Sunday Birmingham"

With the release of Suzy Bogguss’s 1989 major label debut, Somewhere Between, the acclaimed singer/songwriter quickly became one of the key artists that defined those golden days of ’90s country. She scored a string of Top 10 singles with country radio staples like “Outbound Plane,” “Drive South,” “Hey Cinderella,” “Letting Go” and “Aces,” and her 1991 album of that name was certified platinum. In addition, she scored a trio of gold albums and notched more than 3 million sales.

Three decades later, she's still making magic with the latest release of her new single, "Sunday Birmingham." Written and co-produced with Doug Crider, Suzy plays rhythm guitar, drums, percussion in addition to doing vocals- and has an assist on background vocals from admitted superfan and respected singer/songwriter herself, Courtney Patton.

Pam Tillis To Release New Album Looking For A Feeling On April 24

Artist: Pam Tillis
Album: Looking For A Feeling
Label: Stellar Cat
Release date: April 24, 2020

Pam Tillis still loves country music. It's evident every time she opens her mouth on stage and that love still drives her to keep touring, sometimes teaming with country stars Terri Clark and Suzy Bogguss for a concert series “Chicks With Hits” and her frequent collaborator Lorrie Morgan.

It's also help with driving her new studio album entitled Looking For A Feeling that will be out April 24 on Stellar Cat Records. She's going a little bit old school on the upcoming project, her 11th studio album. The project has been reportedly recorded on analog tape with guitarist Pat Buchanan, keyboard man Jim Moose Brown, steel legend Dan Dugmore, and Mark Knopfler alum Glenn Whorf.  Hit songwriter and producer Jimmy Ritchey is also involved in on the project. Tillis finished the project with producer Joe Pisapia (Guster, Ben Folds Five, Drew Holcomb and kd lang).

The daughter of country music singer Mel Tillis, Pam was signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1981 and would go on to record 21 charted Top 30 singles including her number one smash hit on the on 1995's "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)." 12 other singles made Top 10 on that chart. Her albums Homeward Looking Angel (1992), Sweetheart's Dance (1994) and Greatest Hits (1997) are all certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), while Put Yourself in My Place and 1995's All of This Love are certified gold.

She has won two major awards: a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 1999 for the multi-artist collaboration "Same Old Train", and the 1994 Country Music Association award for Female Vocalist of the Year followed by the CMA President's Award in 1998. Tillis has also received two Recorded Event of the Year awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association. Suzy Bogguss To Release Merle Haggard Tribute Album Lucky On 2/4

Suzy Bogguss announced that she will release a dedication to her own songwriting hero on February 4, 2014, when Lucky, a Merle Haggard tribute record, lands on shelves. It is a return to her roots for the long-time singer-songwriter as her very first album Somewhere Between was named after a Haggard song. As you can imagine, the album will be a full acoustic production.

“He really is the poet of the common man,” Suzy said. “Not every artist has music that is as universal as Merle’s. It’s pretty heavy-duty stuff, and I think that’s why to so many of us who sing and write songs, he’s such a king among us.”

Lucky track listing:
1. Today I Started Loving You Again
2. Silver Wings
3. The Bottle Let Me Down
4. I Always Get Luck With You
5. If We Make It Through December
6. Let’s Chase Each Other Around The Room
7. The Running Kind
8. Going Where The Lonely Go
9. Someday When Things Are Good
10. I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink
11. Sing Me Back Home
12. You Don’t Have Very Far To Go

Country Music News Updates On Tim Robbins, Shania Twain, JD Souther, Suzy Bogguss and Alabama

This Friday morning, there is more country music news around the web than I am able to do complete stories on, so I'm going to give some teasers and then send you to some other sites for some more details. Usually, we'll do full stories on such items, but we didn't want these pieces of information to go unannounced.

* Oscar-winning actor Tim Robbins has signed with 429 Records and will release his album, Tim Robbins And The Rogues Gallery Band, on July 19. You can read a little more about the project HERE or view his website at http://www.timrobbins.net/.

* After getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this week, Shania Twain's next trick will be releasing her first single in over six years during the finale of her Oprah Winfrey Network show Why Not With Shania Twain. It's titled "Today Is Your Day."

* JD Souther may not be a mainstream country radio name today, but ask any songwriter and he's placed there up with the greats. He was the pen behind many of the great hits by the Eagles and has other cuts by acts like the Dixie Chicks and Trisha Yearwood just to name two. More recently, he co-wrote with the boys from One Flew South on their album Last of the Good Guys. Souther has a brand new album called Natural History and it features his own interpretations of many of his greatest hits.

* It's been WAY too long since we heard new music from Suzy Bogguss- good news is that wait is over. Bogguss has a new CD and companion Songbook that will be released on July 18, 2011 at all Cracker Barrel Country Stores. This looks like a serious keeper.
Folk songs are the scrapbook of the American experience, but as music education fades from our public schools, she worried; these beautiful melodies are in danger of being overlooked. She resolved to record these timeless songs in an updated but reverent way.
The hardcover, 96-page book is filled with illustrations, fascinating historical stories about the songs, easy to read sheet music arrangements for piano, voice and guitar as well as personal insights and anecdotes from Bogguss
* In an interview with Bradenton.com, Alabama member Jeff Cook reveals tentative plans for an Alabama reunion tour and possibly even an album into 2012.
We’re talking about doing maybe 20 shows next year,” said Alabama cofounder, singer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cook during a recent phone interview. “I feel sure that if we do dates we’ll have a recording to go with it,”
