Rissi Palmer experienced a lifetime of milestones when she released her self-titled debut album in 2007. As one of country music's most promising new stars, Rissi received widespread attention across all media platforms including print features in Ebony, GIANT, Newsweek, Parade, People, Rolling Stone and The Wall Street Journal, to name a few. She made numerous national television and radio appearances such as the CBS Early Show, NPR's Tavis Smiley, and Sirius XM's Dr. Maya Angelou's Show on "Oprah & Friends." She was invited to perform at the White House and the Grand Ole Opry upon numerous occasions. And as if all that wasn't enough, Rissi also made music history as the first African-American female to chart a country song since 1987 with the release of her debut single, "Country Girl."

In the past eight years since that explosive ride in the music spotlight, Rissi moved from Nashville to North Carolina, where she married the love of her life in 2010, gave birth to her daughter, Grace, in 2011, and recorded a children’s record, Best Day Ever in 2013. This holiday album follows up the release of The Back Porch Sessions that was released earlier this year in May.

Rissi Palmer is making her return with a brand new 5-song EP, The Back Porch Sessions- being released on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, with pre-sales available now on iTunes. Rissi describes the new collection as "Southern Soul" and blends together all her musical influences -- from country to soul and R&B. Rissi is offering NoiseTrade fans an early listen with an exclusive, unplugged "Back Porch Mix" of the first single "Sweet Sweet Lovin'."

Now, with the release of The Back Porch Sessions set to for digital release in May on her new indie label, Baldilocks Records, Rissi is making music from an all new prospective.

"The person who was once looking for love, now has found it and that has changed so much of who I am now -- especially as an artist," explains Rissi. "It's now about finding a new side of me artistically rather than trying to figure out what box to fit in."

The new 5-song EP features all original songs, which Rissi had a hand in writing. It's also one that has both of her Grammy winning producers/songwriters, Drew Ramsey (India.Arie, Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang) and Shannon Sanders (Randy Travis, Lyle Lovett, India.Arie), singing her praises.

1720 Signs Stevie Walker To New Record Contract

1720 Entertainment (whose roster includes Grammy-nominated country star Jamie O'Neal and one of country's hottest rising stars Rissi Palmer) is proud to announce the signing of country singer-songwriter Stevie Walker. She will release her first single, "Don't Wanna Be Me Today," to country radio in July, with her debut album following this fall.

CD Review- Darius Rucker- Learn To Live

Hootie has hit a home run again. It seems like Darius Rucker’s first single, “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” has been embraced by country fans- hitting number #1 on the charts this week. And after listening to Learn to Live, it would not surprise me if the album had the same effect.

Of the 14 songs on Learn to Live, it feels like at least 12 of them could be singles. It ranges from the honky-tonk blow-off song, “All I Want,” which is Brad Paisley guitar-infused, to “If I Had Wings,” which shows off Rucker’s softer side. It includes background vocals from Alison Krauss and Vince Gill. It has the coolest father/daughter song with “It Won’t Be This Way For Long” and “I Hope They Get to Me in Time” is an interesting perspective of a life flashing before your eyes in an accident scene. This is not just another rocker who has gone country. This is a man who clearly established he could sing when he was fronting Hootie & the Blowfish. But now he’s proven that the country roots — the ones so many claim to have had all along — are genuinely his. Every song has something that feels honest-to-goodness country.

And it’s also noteworthy to celebrate the fact that an African-American has hit the top of the charts as well. It’s interestingly timed as Barack Obama is making a historic run for the presidency. Darius’ trip to the top in country doesn’t set any precedents, but it’s the first time in over two decades an African-American has had a No. 1 hit in the format. Ray Charles joined Willie Nelson at No. 1 in 1985 with "Seven Spanish Angels," while Charley Pride was the last solo artist to do it with "Night Games" in 1983. With fellow African American country artist Rissi Palmer primed for stardom as well, this will hopefully be another great influence and chapter in country music’s history.

Much has been debated about the influx of pop stars into country music. Rucker is usually thrown into that argument. However, listen to the ten-million album selling “Cracked Rear View” by Hootie and the Blowfish. It’s not much different than the Eagles and today’s electric guitar leading acts Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban. Rucker hasn’t changed course at all, country has just finally found its way to his home in Charleston.

This album is one of the year’s best- a five out of five star.
