Hear It Here: The Texas Red Dirt Choir's "Faith In The Water"

For the writers and singers of “Faith in the Water” this new song is more than a song, it’s a statement. A statement of resolve that’s as big as the State from which it hails. Written by singer-songwriters Roger Creager and Kyle Hutton, the song paints a picture of the despair, hope, and determination on the faces of their friends and neighbors in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and accomplishes a feat possibly unmatched in Texas Music history.... Twenty-five of the Texas's most accomplished artists have joined their hearts and voices to form The Texas Red Dirt Choir in a quest to raise money for those affected by the $190 billion dollar storm.

“Faith in the Water” reflects more than just the generosity of the front-men and women that sing on the project. The song, recorded in famed Bismeaux Studios (Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel), features an incredible list of artists that make up the Texas Red Dirt Choir:
Josh Abbott, Bri Bagwell, Ray Benson, Jason Boland, Wade Bowen, Roger Creager, Deryl Dodd, Kevin Fowler, Susan Gibson, Pat Green, Josh Grider, Kristi Grider, Matt Hillyer, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Kyle Hutton, Jack Ingram, Cody Johnson, Micky and Gary Braun of Micky & The Motorcars, Mike Harmeier of Mike & The Moonpies, Cory Morrow, Kyle Park, Dave Perez, Willy and Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly, Heather Stalling, Max Stalling, Larry Joe Taylor, Koe Wetzel, and Jamie Lin Wilson. Bri Bagwell Kickstart(er)s Her New Release, When a Heart Breaks

Bri Bagwell, the two-time reigning Texas Regional Radio Music Female Vocalist of the Year has just released a brand new album entitled When A Heart Breaks. Released independently, the music is a mix of her home state of New Mexico, her adopted home state of Texas and Nashville, where she has a publishing deal with Sony/ATV on Music Row. She had also previously competed on CMT's Next Great Superstar.

Her first full-length album has just been delivered after a successful pledge drive raised almost $30,000 on Kickstarter.

“There’s two years of life in there,” she said. “There definitely was some heartbreak, but we balance it out with some fun songs and some silly stuff, too.”

Bagwell said being one of a comparatively few female Texas country leaders was a struggle at first.

“Initially, a lot of people don’t want to book a female, which is so bizarre to me,” she said. “I just kind of put my head down and worked as hard as I could.

“I don’t know exactly why it’s harder for a female, but we all agree it is,” she said.

She fell in love with music at an early age, and started playing in a band with her older brothers while just a teenager growing up in New Mexico. A couple of weeks after turning 18, she moved to Austin, TX to study at UT and begin her music career in the live music capital of the world. Late nights, rowdy Texas crowds, and being alone on stage with just a guitar shaped her onstage charismatic charm.

Her first CD, Banned from Santa Fe, released June 2011, sold through several printings, and gained traction very quickly among music fans. Bri Bagwell was the only female artist on the Texas Music Chart for a few weeks with her single, also titled “Banned from Santa Fe" and her song "Whiskey" became her 1st Texas Chart Top 15 hit.

In 2013, Bri released her self-titled EP, which featured two brand new radio singles, “Hound Dog” and “Crazy”. Her latest radio release, “Crazy,” has been praised for its witty and relatable lyrics, and was another Texas song charter.
