This past summer, John McEuen started producing an album for his lifelong friend, actor Steve Martin. John says "The Steve album is coming along great! People will be shocked at how vast and varied is music is, and how hot he plays… this album will show Steve as a composer of unique hot and soulful music, and as a songwriter with an unusual twist for lyrics. And, in the 44 years I've known him, I've never heard him playing better." ...
And while he may be best known for his comedic roles in such movies as Parenthood and The Jerk, those that remember his stand-up comedy days know his trusted banjo was always by his side. Martin is making a mostly instrumental album and has recruited some major Nashville talent to help him out. Respected bluegrass musicians Earl Scruggs, Jerry Douglas, David Amram and Tony Trishka are jamming with Martin on the album and Vince Gill, bluegrass artist Tim O'Brien and timeless Dolly Parton will sing on the three songs that will include vocals.
Martin's album, filled with all original music, is due for release early next year.
