Grand Ole Opry member Hank Locklin, one of the greatest and most influential tenor singers in country music history, died Sunday at his home in Brewton, Ala. He was 91. Mr. Locklin was a Grand Ole Opry member since 1960, and had recently released his 65th album, By the Grace of God.
Mr. Locklin's greatest hits included "Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On" and "Please Help Me I'm Falling." His style was a lynchpin of the much-vaunted "Nashille Sound," and he was an international ambassador for country music. He was also a beloved figure both onstage and backstage at the Grand Ole Opry: His voice was an audience favorite, and his humor and good-will backstage was a comfort to many performers.
The family is planning a private funeral and burial service.
