Agent Ribbons are Natalie Gordon (guitar and vocals), Naomi Cherie (violin) and Lauren Hess (drums), a Sacramento trio whose music has been described as “Victorian punk” or “The White Stripes lost in Alice’s Wonderland”. Their sound is truly a reminiscent of the fifties and sixties mixed with baroque pop vintage cabaret with a tinge of country. A VERY tinge of country.The duo sound like they belong in a 1940s cabaret over some of the dive bars and other venues they’re playing. The songs on their debut CD are charming, witty, and so much fun. "Obituary" is a delightful ragtime inspired tune about a woman mourning her love life and "Birds And Bees" is a tongue in cheek song about use of the word "Honey."
Your Love is the Smallest Doll is the second 7” vinyl release for Agent Ribbons- the girls are reincarnated versions of Johnny Cash as punk girls. The dark, yet humorous songs, are quirky but area all fun to listen to. And to prove the quirkiness, here’s a band bio:
Once upon a time, there was three old witches that lived in a treehouse in the middle of the rainforest. They spent their days capturing innocent children to make into pies, and in their spare time, threw salt on snails, and then gobbled them up, too. One day, the fairies got fed up with these no good hags and started warning all the children to be wary of the witch's woods. They moved all the snails in the night where the witches couldn't get them. Starving, both witches went to the fairy kingdom and implored them to stop saving the snails and children or else they would starve. The fairy queen felt sorry for the rotten ladies, but also did not want children or snails to suffer any longer. So, she gave them a second chance--with a spell that turned the witches into childlike musicians that lived inside shells, she told them that they could live on as girls and never starve again, as long as they promised to tell stories of good and evil, love and eternity. The end.

We had a chance to sit down with the girls to have them answer a few questions for TNS.
That Nashville Sound- You have a very interesting band name, where'd it come from?
Agent Ribbons- Our band name doesn't have too much of an interesting story behind it actually! Our friend here in Sacramento muttered the combination of words one beer filled night and we decided to take it on as our name!
TNS- Describe your music, it has lots of different genres- what's the mission behind the music?
AR- We tend to describe our music as cabaret inspired garage pop. Our mission is to spread the Agent Ribbons mantra across all lands and times. Be it choral chanting, turds in tuxes, bonfires with numerous cats dancing about on their hind legs, craft spectaculars, hand claps at 6am....we will never stop creating.
TNS- What's the career highlight for the band thus far?
AR- So far our career highlight has been the Camera Obscura tour! We were able to play to amazing crowds across half the country and form a bond with one of our favorite bands. Coming in a close second in the order of career highlights is recording our latest album 'Chateau Crone', our dream coming to beautiful fruition!
TNS- What kind of music are you listening to? What's in your iPod?
AR- Agent Ribbons actually doesn't own an ipod, we survive on records, tapes and some CDs. We all listen to a variety of music. Right now we are loving the new St. Vincent album, Elvis, The Boswell Sisters, Os Mutantes and our local favorite Mike Farrell's solo album.
TNS- What's next for you? Where do you hope to be career-wise a couple years from now?
AR- We are touring like madwomen for the rest of the year! Stops include the west coast, a national tour, Spain and hopefully Japan early next year!

AR- Opry! The women of the opry had the best hair...

AR- Record Stores Forever!

AR- My old drum set was named 'Shitty Shitty Bang Bang.'
