That Nashville Soundbites- Nathan Lee Jackson- Complicated Hearts

That Nashville Sound receives many different CD releases throughout the year from indie and small-labels that we’re doing short mini CD reviews on. We call them That Nashville Soundbites- it’s a feature that will allow us to give some props to some albums and artists that deserve a spotlight on their work.

Release Date: September 2009
Music Label: R.E.D. Distribution
The Skinny: This collection of pop-tinged country songs share extremely strong songwriting on many of the tracks although production doesn’t hide that Jackson’s voice gets just a bit pitchy hitting notes in the upper registers. There’s some very good material for national artists to look at here.
Sounds Like: Jimmy Wayne and Marty Roe
Standout Tracks: "Small Town Rain," "I Could Try,” “Sittin’ By The River” & "Kentucky Breeze"
The Verdict: Two & A Half Stars Out Of Five
