Up & Coming New Nashville- Bre Dawn (With Exclusive Interview)

It’s always nice being able to tout a girl from our hometown, and although she hails from a number of different locales across the United States including Atlanta, San Diego, and Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Bre Dawn calls Sacramento a hometown too. Dawn brings a unique perspective and personality to each of the songs she writes and performs. Her debut CD, aptly entitled Cali Country Girl, was released this past Spring.

Influenced by a number of renowned performers, Bre is being likened by industry insiders to a number of cross-over singers who enjoy solid success in both the pop and country arenas. On more than one occasion Bre has explained that her song stylings oftentimes are inspired by everyday events in her life. There is an evident honesty in both her song writing and her vibrant performances. Through both her song writing and her performances Bre strives to connect with her audience because of the raw reality of her words and of her singing.

Although new to the professional music scene, Bre is not a novice when it comes to writing, singing and entertainment. With her first performance occurring in a second grade musical, Bre has been singing, dancing and acting ever since. She also has had professional training through the years as well.

Not one to permit moss to grow under her feet, even as her debut CD is heading onto the market Bre is hard at work on her next project. On the heels of the release of Cali Country Girl Bre is back writing new songs and in the studio working on her follow-up CD.

As noted, Bre already has started to garner attention from the entertainment industry. In this regard, she is collaborating with some of the hottest pop and country song writers in the U.S.A. today. Additionally, she attracted an experienced Los Angeles based producer to oversee the creation of Cali Country Girl, a rare opportunity for a fresh talent.

When not working on her latest project or performing, Bre likes to spend time with friends – including long days at the beach. She also enjoys trips to visit her parents and brother in Sacramento and going fishing with her grandfather in Minnesota. Her relationships and her roots continue to play the most significant role in her music.

That Nashville Sound- What brought you to music in the first place?

Bre Dawn- I first started getting into music when I was in Kindergarten. I went to Elementary School in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and it was a requirement to take music classes and I absolutely fell in love with it! Ever since then I was involved with choir, musicals, dancing and basically anything I could do to be performing in front of an audience. I started writing songs about four years ago and still crafting my songwriting! I have learned so much from working with other songwriters and am very blessed they want to be apart of my music.

TNS- Describe your music- what's the mission behind the music?

BD- On my current EP, I really wanted this project to be fun, light and bubbly! I co-wrote 4 of the 6 songs and it was an amazing experience! I am in transition right now with my music because this last year I have been writing a lot and just finding myself and within that process I realized a lot of what I was writing about was my relationship and love for God. He has completely transformed my life and I want to give it all to him and I think I’m being called to incorporate that part of my life with my music. I have also been meeting with a few different non-profit organizations I support and believe in and am trying to get as involved as I can! I have some really exciting projects coming up so stay tuned.

TNS- What might people be surprised to find out about you?

BD- I may look like a girly girl which I am but I also love to be outdoors camping, quading, and fishing! I may have spent most of my life in California but I have also grown up in Minnesota. I feel like I had the best of both worlds!

TNS- What kind of music are you listening to? What's in your iPod?

BD- I have everything and anything from the latest country, rock, oldies, Christian! I find myself listening to a lot of female artists because I like to sing them! No offense guys I love you too.

TNS- If you had a crystal ball and looked forward five years, what do you see for yourself?

BD- Hopefully, I’m finished with an album and just touring as much as I can so I am able to connect with my fans and keep building my fan base. I would really like to travel to other countries as well. Lastly, I want to be making a difference in the world with whatever I have to offer other people.
