The nominations for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards were announced Friday night in an hour-long CBS special hosted by LL Cool J. Gracing the Nokia Theater stage with live, interspersed performances between nomination announcements were Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Miguel, among others.
Many of the usual country/roots suspects came away with nominations this year with Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton both earning multiple nominations. But there were some nice new surprises as well. Newcomer Kacey Musgraves scored multiple nominations including Best Overall New Artist, Best Country Song and two songwriting nominations. Even some country legends got into the act. Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were both nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "You Can't Make Old Friends" and Guy Clark was nominated for Best Folk Album.
