Win An Autographed Copy Of The New Ronnie Milsap Album, Summer Never Seventeen

Ronnie Milsap, six-time Grammy-winning icon, releases Summer Number Seventeen on Tuesday - a homage to the various styles of music that shaped his singularly bluesy take on modern country, the 12 song collection is defined by his instinctive keyboard playing and soulful vocals.

From an interview at Engine 145:
It started with my manager going to RCA in New York to check on my catalog to see if they still wanted to administer it. They said, “What is Ronnie doing now?” My manager said, “He’s got a new album.” They said, “We don’t know what it is, but we want it.”

We told them the list of songs we had, and I had stumbled across a new song, “Summer #17,” written by a 21-year old here in town called Sam Hunter. I heard it and thought I’d get in the studio and see how it worked for me. So I sang it, did backgrounds on it, played it for Sam and he said, “I think that’s your next hit,” and I said, “I hope you’re right.”

After I got “Summer #17,” I decided I wanted to do songs that were my favorite when I was a teenager. I put the song list together, sang all my favorites, and I’d like to be crazy enough to think that’s going to work.

That Nashville Sound is pleased to have several autographed copies of this new project to giveaway to lucky listeners. Simply list out what your favorite Ronnie Milsap song is in the comment section and on Wednesday of next week, we'll pick out the winners and send out the CD's.

  7. Ronnie has so many great songs that my favorite will change depending on when you ask me, but today, I think my favorite is "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me." That track is drenched in 70s swagger.

  8. It's a tossup between "It Was Almost Like A Song" and "Smoky Mountain Rain." Each have sentimental values that remind me of positive times in my life growing up.
