Says Broussard about the project, "I've wanted to make a Christmas album for a very long time and thanks to an amazing team and a whole lot of love, it's finally here. This marks my 7th studio release as well as my very first, 100% independent project. Magnolias & Mistletoe has classics like "O Holy Night" and "The Christmas Song" but also features 2 brand new Christmas songs co-written by me! It's the kind of record that plays well at a holiday party. We didn't try to go overboard with production as these songs are great on their own and don't need much innovation, just a significant level of respect. As such, you'll mostly hear just voice, piano, classical guitar and cello on this record, with some exceptions on the new originals."
