As a member of One Flew South, Roberts isn’t a stranger to contributing to major film soundtracks. His first contribution was the whimsical “Friends For Life” for Disney’s Fox and the Hound 2 film. Now, he’s made his home at Catch This Music, a small collective of songwriters/producers/musicians that are skilled in providing a new song one day, record a demo the next, produce an independent album the following day as a recording studio, and release a solo album for one of its artists on day four.
At Catch This Music, he’s gotten cuts with The Swon Brothers, ABC’s Nashville and a couple of other television shows. But this most recent cut is a doozy of doozies. Along with Tony Esterly and Austin Jenckes, Roberts has penned the main track with the upcoming and highly anticipated feature film, Assassin’s Creed. Entitled “My World,” the track accompanies the movie trailer and will be featured on the album’s soundtrack. It demonstrates the versatility of one of Nashville’s unsung heroes in writing the right song for the right project.
The movie features a story about “a revolutionary technology that unlocks the genetic memories of Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) and who experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day. The movie opens up on 12.21.16 and you can listen to “My World” below:
