The Late Ralph Stanley Gets Posthumous Release Of Live Show In February

Artist: Ralph Stanley
Album: The Bottom Live Archive
Label: The Bottom Line Record Company
Release date: February 24, 2017

Forty-three years after the legendary Bottom Line club opened its doors in Greenwich Village, The Bottom Line Archive Series has announced the next release in their series, a performance from the late and legendary Ralph Stanley.

This release is one of an extensive quarterly rollout of more than 24 new titles over a several year period, including classic live performances by John Hiatt, Emmylou Harris, Savoy Brown, Waylon Jennings, Tony Orlando, Pete Seeger and Rory Gallagher, among others.

Bottom Line co-founder/curator Allan Pepper says he’s got recordings of more than 1,000 shows from Greenwich Village nightclub, which always booked an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, blues, folk and other forms of music. Pepper says the label is currently having conversations with representatives from many of the additional acts.
Pepper, who has lived in Tenafly since 1978, says the records are time capsules; a way to relive formative, generation-defining musical experiences. There’s also a warm and fuzzy element: “You had the sense you were right in your own living room when you saw live music there,” he says. “People loved that.”
