A Family Christmas Prayer From Our Family To Yours

Each year on Christmas, I break from the country music news and reviews and share a little piece of our personal family experience. My grandparents met back in the 1930's and had three children. They had more children who then had more children. And each Christmas, that huge family gathered together at the Christmas holiday for family time, a meal and presents. It also included a prayer. What was originally written by grandfather, and then written by my father, then handed off to be written and read by me now has my own son doing the reading duties (with us co-writing it together.) These are each of those prayers going back many decades. For those that might find it of interest, I've archived many of them going back to the 1970's on a site that I put together HERE. From our family to yours, may this little message be a reminder to treasure each moment with your loved ones and not take any moments for granted. Merry Christmas.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Love brings us together again to celebrate everything important You have given us this year. We are so blessed to have such supportive and loving family and friends that give us strength. In a year filed with so much local heartache and tragedy, we thank you for the protection You have given us, the ability to help our fellow man- and we pray for the families who have not been so fortunate as we have.

This family you have gifted us is truly wonderful and each of us are so grateful to be a part of it. There are so many individuals in this room who give us a foundation to feel safe and to teach us how to love. They are our roots. They provide the fertile soil for us to grow as children and blossom into something special as adults. They literally form the central heartbeat of our lives. We are so blessed to have each other as a foundation, and we thank our Lord so much for it.

Simultaneously to being our roots, those in this room also gives us the love and support to give us the ability to fly. They provide the strength to become the best we can be. You have taught this family to believe in each other, to lift each other up- sometimes when no one else will. And here, you provide this remarkable Christmas dinner going on nearly eight decades long where we are reminded of the love we share for each other once more.

With grateful hearts, we thank You for all the blessings you have given us. Through You, this family provides the roots for us to feel safe and loved, while at the same time giving us wings to fly. May you continue to guide us and remind us daily that we are loved and supported. Thank you for these amazing opportunities.

Amen
