Actor John Amos Releases New Country Album

Actor John Amos of the hit television show Good Times and movies Coming To America and Die Hard 2 makes his country music debut this week with a brand new album, We Were Hippies.

He appeared for a CD release party and autograph signing at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Jefferson’s Restaurant, 1033 Jefferson St., and then at 8 at Limelight, across from LP Field, for a live show.

In 2007, Amos told The Tennessean that he “was inspired to get into the country music thing because of what happened with Hurricane Katrina.” He recorded Randy Newman’s “Louisiana 1927” for an album benefiting the hurricane victims. Gene Cash, CEO of Music Row Records Nashville, heard it and offered him a deal.

Listen to the some of the songs below.

1. We Were Hippies

2. Hopelessly

3. Johnny Came To Town

4. Sail Away

5. Little Buford

6. We All Got A Day A Comin'

7. Come On Sunshine

8. Independence Day
