The Canadian Juno Awards and Texas Regional Music Award Winners Announced


Canada’s 2013 Juno Awards Ceremony was held over the weekend. k.d. lang was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and several country/Americana/roots bands took home trophies:

International Album of the Year – Mumford & Sons, Babel

Artist of the Year – Leonard Cohen

Country Album of the Year – Johnny Reid, Fire It Up

Aboriginal Album of the Year – Crystal Shawanda, Just Like You

Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Solo – Rose Cousins, We Have Made a Spark

Roots & Traditional Album of the Year Group – Elliott Brood, Days Into Years

Blues Album of the Year – Steve Strongman,  A Natural Fact

About 1,000 miles south, Deryl Dodd and The Rankin Twins electrified the audience of Texas Music industry executives and fans yesterday at the third annual Texas Regional Radio Music Awards at the Arlington Music Hall.  The crowd was entertained by Cody Johnson, Bri Bagwell, JB & The Moonshine Band, Rosehill, Mark McKinney, Melissa Brooke, TJ Broscoff, Larry Joe Taylor and Dave Perez.  The awards recognized radio stations that play original Texas Music and artist’s achievements over the past year.  Music industry professionals and fans got to cast their ballots.  The winners are listed below.
