Artist: Natalie Stovall & The Drive
Album: Heartbreak
Label: Kickstarter
Release date: TBD
It would have been easy to believe that we could have heard the last of Natalie Stovall & The Drive. After attaining a bit of success with their first Hitshop Records single, "Baby Come On With It," the label called it quits mid-promotion and just before they were to launch their debut EP back in 2014. But anyone who has seen the spunky Stovall and her band play live, you'll realize there's an energy and effervescence for playing up on stage that can't be easily unplugged.
Says Stovall, "We were in the home stretch of finishing a record with our label when they suddenly shut down. So we started over this year, writing and recording, getting it all done. In fact, some of you have probably been going through the same range of emotions as we have: excitement, impatience, mild anxiety..."
Stovall (lead vocals, fiddle), Miguel Cancino (guitar), Zach Morse (bass), Joel Dormer (guitar, vocals), and James Bavendam (drums) went to Kickstarter to fund a project that they could control from start to finish and successfully finished their fundraising campaign on the 17th of this month.
"I wanted to call the EP 'Heartbreak' because it really did represent the things our band has gone through these past couple of years," says Stovall. "There is a rollercoaster of emotions that go into working very hard on something only to have it suddenly go away when the label closed."
The band is in the studio now and will update to the release date of the new project soon.
