If you've been following the heartbreaking story of Joey and Rory Feek, you may have read Rory's brilliantly done blog detailing his highs and lows of Joey's tragic battle with terminal cancer. Thoughtful, introspective, autobiographical, remarkably positive and revealing all at the same time, This Life I Live provides a recommended read every time it comes out. Yesterday's was quite possibly the most difficult post to get through. Rory made public that Joey hasn't woken up over the last few days and hospice is telling the family that she has just hours or days left on this earth.
But as Rory has an amazing knack of doing, he made it about celebrating Joey's first 40 years and not about her end. He released a (nearly) previously unreleased song of theirs entitled "In The Time That You Gave Me" set to a slide show of his bride that sums up what her life has been about. It may sound cliché to say that it was about the journey, not the end, but in this case (and I think in all cases), it's the journey that matters. I got to know the couple just a little bit over a handful of days spent together and there isn't a more loving and authentic duo anywhere. Their legacy is going to be this remarkable spirit, incredible music and touched family and friends. And this last song couldn't sum it up any better.

What a beautiful song that helps all of us stop and think about what we've accomplished that's worthwhile in this life. What a special lady with such talent. Prayers are with her and the family and friends at this difficult time.
